Hi Jim Richard and everyone, Thank goodness for that, I was beginning to think we'd have to wait for the media reports following Monday's show! I am sure Hayley will have more to tweet us over the next couple of days about what she will be doing, and with whom! To clarify, for anyone who is confused: Hayley has effectively confirmed by Twitter on Saturday 3rd December that she will be taking part in the 2011 Royal Variety Performance. The show is on 5th December, the TV broadcast is 14th December.Cheers, Dave

There is a significant time lag between the event and the broadcast: nine days! Presumably to make the production fit into the time slot by removing all the filler, right? But do they always keep the performances intact or do they trim or skip certain acts to achieve this? I'd hate to have Hayley's contribution wind up on the cutting room floor. What do you think will happen?

What do you think will happen? Hi Steve, They do edit it down but mostly, it's things like the comedy acts and links between acts that end up being shortened and rearranged. They have two and a half ours to fill, less adverts (maximum 24 minutes) and programme trailers, so almost certainly over 2 hours of actual broadcast time. I can't see them dropping Hayley, and I'm hoping that when we get to know what exactly Hayley will be doing, that would be even more unthinkable. Cheers, Dave

Didn't Hayley also perform at this event in 2008? She sang Santa Lucia, and it was when she still had bronchitis, but she still sang pretty well.

Oh my goodness! I recorded Granada Reports (the local ITV station to the Lowry) earlier this evening while I was out, and have have just watched it. The cameras went backstage to interview some of the stars - and they showed two glimpses of the Set Lists - the order of performances (names only). Although partially obscured and with a moving camera, I was able to see the following: ACT 1 Hayley Westenra National Anthem Trumpeters And on an adjacent board: Rolando & Hayley! + (looks like "Dancers")So, looks like Hayley sings the opening National Anthem (or something right after it)! And later, a duet with... well do we know any other Rolando apart from top Opera singer Rolando Villazon? I'm very excited about this, no way would they drop this duet from the TV broadcast (whatever the song is). Cheers, Dave
