Angels are mentioned many times on this forum, usually in relation to voices.
I have started this as an off topic discussion nearly started or avoided in the Venue Cymru thread.
People get nervous of things they don't understand, It may also be the cause of fear for others.
I like things that can be measured or weighed or defined scientifically, Gravity, wind and electricity are invisible but most of us will accept that they are there without question.
Angels and Guardian Angels, well that's a different kettle of fish.
I met a man once who was driving alone at night on an unlit, narrow country road and he said he was "told" to "STOP THE CAR" by a voice. He did stop the car and on the road before him was a huge black cow that he would have hit had he continued at the speed he was going at.
He didn't use the word Angel, he had no explanation for what had happened, he said he had no other experience like it before or after this incident.

Many people are able to relate such experiences, I myself have encountered at least two such circumstances. It is interesting that you raise this (intentionally?) over the period of Hallowe'en and All Souls, the latter being the Christian church's counter-measure to the former pre-entrenched 'heathen' tradition. The more rational answer is that some people (or sometimes in all of us) circumstances re-awaken ancient inherent aspects of our animal instincts. We still do not understand all animal behaviour, how they communicate, how they developed etc. On the other hand, the religiously inclined will tell you that our physical bodies are temples for the spiritual world from which we originated and that spiritual world is the true reality. In dealing with scientific reasoning, scientists themselves now ponder if their interpretation of the objective reality they have objectively 'proven' is in fact correct after all and we are all living in a dream, of which we have no true understanding. That rather implies science is bringing us back to God again! Peter S.

Hi Peter,Paul & Rodders. From Job 28:28 "And unto man He said, `Behold, the fear of the Lord: that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding." Above's the difference between man & animals. The willingness of man to search after God is, however, another story. Graeme

Hi Peter, As for living in a dream, have you ever come across the writings of Thomas Traherne (17th Century) or Douglas Harding (20th Century). Fascinating stuff. There was even a song about those two guys. www.lyricstime.com/incredible-string-band-douglas-traherne-harding-lyrics.htmlThe vid of it on YouTube seems to have vanished unfortunately. But perhaps there is a hint of irony in that lyric! Martin D

Have intended to get back to this thread many times.
Has anyone any good stories of intervention by an unknown entity which produced a good result, like the preventing of an accident ?
I am looking for personal experiences, not just "Ghost stories"

I have one.
My family is friends with a couple that used to live in NYC. It was September 11, 2001. He was a city firefighter, she was a teacher. About three months prior, he had gotten a leg fracture and was confined to do office work until September 12. She was on a field trip with her class to somewhere outside of the city. Who would've guessed that a broken leg could save one's life? I've always believed that some things just can't be explained without divine intervention. This is one of those things.

Err.. I thought Murphy's law was something else.
"If something can go wrong, it will". Something we engineers need to be aware of at all times.
Then of course there is S*d's law, something else entirely. "When something goes wrong it will do so in the most inconvenient way or at the most inconvenient time possible"
Nothing about "luck" in that. They are laws of nature.

Angels are mentioned in many of Hayley's songs.
These are the lines that Hayley sometimes sings before she steps into the light on stage for her first song..
Let your arms enfold us Through the dark of night Will your angels hold us Till we see the light and you realise....you have just been prayed for..

Another one for the Angel Thread.
EVENING PRAYER (WHEN AT NIGHT I GO TO SLEEP) From "Hänsel & Gretel" (Engelbert Humperdinck)
First verse Recorded by Hayley Westenra 2013 for HUSHABYE
When at night I go to sleep Fourteen angels watch do keep Two my head are guarding Two my feet are guiding Two are on my right hand Two are on my left hand Two who warmly cover Two who o’er me hover Two to whom ’tis given To guide my steps to heaven
Second Verse omitted by Hayley ?
Sleeping sofly, then it seems Heaven enters in my dreams; Angels hover round me, Whisp'ring they have found me; Two are sweetly singing, Two are garlands bringing, Strewing me with roses As my soul reposes. God will not forsake me When dawn at last will wake me.
Angels are mentioned in other tracks on HUSHABYE as well. .

This is one of the most obvious Angel related songs that Hayley has sung.
Ave Maria. The words spoken to Mary by the Angel Gabriel
Latin Text Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
English Translation :
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death. Amen.

I looked into this when it was broadcast on Classic FM last week and I'm still not clear if the second verse that you list forms part of the original Hansel and Gretel libretto, their evening prayer, or if it was added at a later date by someone else... does any know for certain the answer to this? Cheers, Dave
