Another one for the Angel Thread. EVENING PRAYER (WHEN AT NIGHT I GO TO SLEEP) From "Hänsel & Gretel" (Engelbert Humperdinck) Recorded by Hayley Westenra 2013 for HUSHABYE When at night I go to sleep Fourteen angels watch do keep Two my head are guarding Two my feet are guiding Two are on my right hand Two are on my left hand Two who warmly cover Two who o’er me hover Two to whom ’tis given To guide my steps to heaven Sleeping sofly, then it seems Heaven enters in my dreams; Angels hover round me, Whisp'ring they have found me; Two are sweetly singing, Two are garlands bringing, Strewing me with roses As my soul reposes. God will not forsake me When dawn at last will wake me. Angels are mentioned in other tracks on HUSHABYE as well. . Does she sing this in English or German? I can't tell by the clip, but I couldn't understand it, so I assume it must be German. I tried asking before what language it was in, but my questions here have been going unnoticed a lot these days. But maybe nobody knew.

Yes Dave you are correct. I have modified my earlier post just to cause additional confusion. I put the full lyrics in this thread because I was just to lazy to check or was I asleep Or mainly because this is the Angel thread. Surely there can't be two people called Englebert HUMPerDINCK On side two of the vinyl edition of Hushabye is a complete version of the song, With the "HOME TAPING IS KILLING MUSIC" warning on the inner sleeve. also available on 8 track Cartridge.

Hi Libby, I'm not completely certain but I think she sings it all in English will have to wait til I can have a proper listen later

Thanks. Sometimes if you can't understand the words, you just can't always tell. And I especially wanted to know, because it was one of the tracks I liked the most out of the clips.

I understand your confusion Libby, That's why I checked the song out on the interweb thinggy.
Two are on sounds like Maori or something "Tuaron"
But it is beautiful and I love the sentiment of the song, the notion that someone is watching over us and protecting us.

Would I Lie................., let me Lie..........on grasses green.

A lot of modern pick ups are designed to take a fair bit of abuse, they are for use by DJs in nightclubs and the likes and are designed to have the groove run in either direction under them, with fairly sudden stop start movements, to create samples of sound.
There were some older high end and expensive styli where the tiny diamond tip was literally held on with a thread and if they were run backwards you could kiss your stylus goodbye.
The reversing thing can be done quite simply with a DC motor, I believe some turntables have a reversing facility.
Am I gone off topic or have I just slipped into a different groove.
So what other HUSHABYE tracks mention Angels ?
