Oh, Simba, the makeup was just fine! She did have mascara on. Actually, her eyes were more visible without as much makeup! I was reminded of the picture on the front of her Live from New Zealand DVD, and I've always loved that picture! I don't think she generally wears that much makeup when she records; on the making of River of Dreams she's wearing little if any, but this was something more special, so she was wearing some. I'm not expecting a music video for this. I think the music video she did recently could very well be for Paradiso, not World in Union. Personally, I'd prefer another Paradiso video.

Hello Libby and Simba! I thought Hayley looked fine in the video. Somehow I don't think heavy make-up would go well with those headphones. The video is clearly meant to promote the album, so I've done my bit and posted it on our Facebook page. Richard

Oh believe me I'm the last person who'd like all the heavy make up, I have mentioned that in a lot of places, but very little make up looks really weird when you always wear them at least to an extent. I've always seen hayley have well defined make up for her eyes in concerts and such, except for some occasions and recent photoshoots where they were over-did. But this particular video, didn't even have the usual thing. Editing the picture in photoshop to add make up manually shows that it's the eyebrows too... I was reminded of the same, hayley looked great and it was just the make up,(eyes), the other make up was mild and beautiful. Just a small comparison picture of what I was trying to say before I go too off-topic... As you can see there's a small thing added but a major difference, and even in the Live from Newzealand cover she has that much eye lining... www.freewebs.com/hwestenra/hayley_dvd.jpgEyes are very important and they need to be defined rightly to bring out the right emotion. At the moment, it's almost like without the eye definition, all the other make up makes no sense. And however pretty she looks in that video, her eyes (even though showing BRILLIANT emotion) looks dull. I hope she gets back her old fashion/makeup advisor (or gets someone who does make up in a similar way....) Now going on-topic, didn't all world in union versions have an accompanying music video? I mean Shakira's waka waka had one....and the various artists compilation thing had one, so I'd be very happy to see Hayley sing in a music video : )

Just got the album. Nice idea. Songs from different rugby playing countries, top and tailed by Hayley's "World in Union". Delightful album I thought, even if Wales seems to get more than its fair share of songs.
I would have liked them to have found a more recent recording of "God Defend New Zealand" than the one they used, which dates from when Hayley was 14. There is a vast gulf between the singer she was then and what she can do now!

You made her lips look more orangish, Simba. Good grief, Hayley never needs photo-shopping! And it's not weird to see with her less makeup. Too much, not enough, she just can't win with you, Simba! :rollin

Just downloaded mine this evening from iTunes and burned my disc for car listening. I may purchase an actual CD at some point too, but this will do for now. I haven't listened to all the tracks from start to finish yet (excepts Hayley's of course, and 'Scottish Medley' as the pipes are in my blood), but I have sampled them all and did a little research to learn the origins of the songs I was unfamiliar with. I agree Martin, Wales certainly did get a fair share. I don't understand why they didn't use Hayley's 'God Defend New Zealand' from the NZ special edition of 'River of Dreams'. That is a much more accurate presentation of how she sings the song at matches, and sounds more like Hayley now. All in all, I think I'm going to really enjoy this album as I listen through it. Matt

Yeah, I found the album listed on Universal Music Japan, too, but no song samples there, either. Or Amazon.jp or HMV Japan. I couldn't even find it on HMV.
