Well I don't think my local supermarket will be selling any more England rugby hats now, not after their worst result for nearly 20 years. (England 0 South Africa 36). We never even looked like scoring ! Still, we could still beat Samoa and go on to face New Zealand in the semi-finals. Ha Ha ! What really gets my goat is how come the Welsh get to play at home AND have Katherine Jenkins to sing their anthem when Hayley has been banned in France

Was Katherine there? And I missed it. I saw the match, but missed the preamble, but at least the Welsh team made an effort. England were embarrassing against South Africa. I have to admit I am listening to Katherine on the headphones as I type this. I love her music too.

If Katherine was allowed tro sing in the Welsh match (in Wales) It looks like the decision to bar all live performances was a decision of the French Rugby authorities not the International authorities (otherwise the Welsh would have had to comply). All of which makes me a little bit annoyed (though not only NZ and Hayley were affected of course). I wonder if NZ will have any matches in Wales (or Scotland)? Cheers, Dave

I wonder if NZ will have any matches in Wales (or Scotland)? I believe the answer is 'yes', Dave. New Zealand is playing against Scotland on September 23 in Edinburgh. Hayley will be in Langholm for two concerts on September 20 and 21 so I wonder.... Stephany i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

And to think I once had tickets to see her in Birmingham on that day! Oh well! Seeing her singing on TV for the All Blacks will be some consolation if it happens.

Just to put the record straight Katherine Jenkins did not sing at the Wales Cuptie! They played the anthem and left the team and fans to sing! Like others I do not see how Wales managed to play their cuptie at their home ground in Wales but then the French have played their matches at home in France-perhaps the Welsh and French should have done a swap? Don't forget that if France comes second of the group and therefore qualifies for the quarter final, it will be against New Zealand (*gasps*) in Wales Not bad for a World Cup 'organized' in France My fingers are crossed for Friday's match against Ireland. Should be very difficult, though. Stephany

Radio 5 interviewed Katherine on the morning of the match and I think she may have sung in the "Warm up" but it doesn't matter anyway since Australia still won ! That means England will have to play them in the quarter-final before going on to face NZ and their "haka" in the semi ! (I wish !). I have been giving some thought to the All Blacks and their war dance. It only seems right that other teams should be allowed to perform some kind of ritual as well. Perhaps the English team could tie bells to their socks and do a morris dance or maybe tie long ribbons to the goal posts and dance around those in typical Mayday fashion !!

Some matches are being held in Wales and Scotland as it was a requirement made by the IRB. I dont really understand why as im sure France have enough stadiums and i would have thought the new Twickenham should have been included as well but from what Aled said on songs of praise i think Cardiff has some special link to the sport which is why matches are being played there.

That explains their abysmal performance last Friday. They obviously had their feet tied together. From my seat I couldn't see the bells. (Not until the next day at Notre Dame!)

That is an absolutely brilliant idea Jeff! That way, the All Blacks would be so busy rolling arround the field doubled up with laughter, England might just win! Best wishes Grant

Phew! I feel better now that France won against Ireland. I keep my fingers crossed for the Irish, though. They need to win against Argentina because we don't want to go to Cardiff against the All Blacks Stephany

I bought an England rugby hat from Lidl for £1.99 (last of the big spenders me you know!) but after the S.Africa game I've been too embarrassed to wear it !! Since that debacle, half the England team has been changed and Jonny's back so I am confi.......er, hopeful that by teatime tonight we will have beaten Samoa and I can once again don my headgear without fear of public ridicule ! If not, I'll just have to find my receipt for that hat !! Must dash, I'm off to the bookies.....England are 80/1 to retain the World Cup so that's got to be worth 10p each-way (what do you think, Dave ?!). You know what they say......a fool and his money are soon parted !

Good luck to New Zealand & Scotland today! It will certainly be a great match. I apologize in advance to our Scottish members but I will be supporting the All Blacks! By the way, I just found a video of Hayley singing in France at the Stade de France in November 2006. You can see it on Daily Motion. The French commentator is so wrong! I can't believe he said the kiwi singer was Lucie Fitzpatrick. Who on earth is she anyway? Awhhh. However, he is clearly 'westenwowed' after the anthem. He says something like: 'This is absolutely MAGNIFICENT!! The anthem was a cappela!' i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif 'God Defend New Zealand' is followed by 'La Marseillaise'. Not as good as Hayley's performance, I must say. I posted a comment under the video to say that it was Hayley Westenra and NOT Lucie whatever. I'm still sad to know that Hayley won't be back at the Stade de France for the Rugby World Cup. Stephany
