Thanks for your input. I should've remembered about Sarah's part in Phantom. I wish Hayley and her record company would have tried just as hard, but then that might have worn her out, and she already had a lot to do to win over the UK and other countries. I'm still clinging to Hayley's statement that if all goes well with her recent US promotions she "will be back". I just wish I knew what exactly she means! And how well is "well"? What do they go by? I think there is a truth here, Libby. Pace. I have posted before that there are long-distance and short-distance runners and the same principle applies to Hayley. It is a different type of stamina and you adapt the promotional role and its demands to the artist's collective whole. Travel is very demanding, disorientation with the body clock passing through many different time zones, disrupting sleeping patterns. Balance that with the physical demand of a high stress level performance, intensive, rehearsing an the collective whole is one heck of a management challenge. Logistically for the support staff to organise, the practicalities it places on the artist. I think we need to recognise that this ten year celebration is one heck of a powerhouse making great demands on her. Peter S

Why does it list it as "debut?" It's NOT a debut alum. That would have been Pure. Am I misunderstanding something here? EDIT: I didn't mean to sound ungrateful or anything #7 is AWESOME (said in a cheesy sing-song voice) i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHappy Autumn, Paige

It's #7 out of 25, correct?

I realized the colors on the album cover of the US release are a little darker than on the NZ version. The NZ colors look a bit pale in comparison. Only slightly, though. Anyone else notice any difference? How about the UK version? Not that it's all that important, though. Just noticed.

Now that you mention it, the printing is darker throughout on my UK version compared with the NZ one. I had never looked at them side by side before. I think I prefer the paler one. Hayley's hair looks more golden and her eyes are not so black.

I think the dress looks better darker, though. It looked more washed out to me next to the other one. But nobody who doesn't have the NZ version will know the difference.
I wouldn't have noticed, except when I brought it home, just to see if there were any differences. At first, I thought she looked more prominent in the photo, but then I realized it was because of the subtle lighting difference.

Hey Martin and Larry" I thought that Martin's comments on the main thread really spelled out my feelings on Paradiso. I wrote a little something in this thread awhile back stating that this was probably Hayley's weakest album. For an american market, it just is. Both Pure, Oddessy and Treasure were truly classical crossover albums. Paradiso is a classical album; there's little uplifting crossover music on it. For an american market, what makes Hayley unique is songs like Wuthering Heights and Heaven. Americans just don't listen to Italian high classical in a significant amount. Don't get me wrong, Hayley's performances are flawless, and just on the difficulty of the musical selections she shows maturity far her age. While she has performed in foreign languages, I simply prefer her Japanese over anything Italian. Classical music is not played here like it is in Europe and our cultures are very different. Of course, Hayley oould not pick a worse time to release an album here; Jackie Evancho has stolen the charts and basically since people are enamoured by her she's getting the attention. Like Martin says, it's the music, the selections not the performance or Hayley herself that americans just don't care for. And Decca has been awful promoting Hayley in the states. She had to cancel a concert in Detroit that I had tickets to a few years ago -- never rescheduled. She was tag teamed with Meav of Celtic Woman during the CW tour, and when the came to Kansas City, we got Meav (who is a great performer, but simply is not Hayley). I haven't been able to see Hayley since the free concert in Wisconsin in 2004, and that was Hayley at her best. I wish she had stayed with CW for the american exposure that Decca hasn't given her. I wish Martin and Larry weren't so correct in their analyses, but that's just the way it is here. If the type and style of music doesn't appeal, she's not going to sell. And selling is what pays the bills

Uplifting? Are you saying all of the songs are depressing? How is Whispers in a Dream not uplifting?? It's one of Hayley's MOST uplifting songs! What about Edge of Love and I Knew I Loved You? They are very romantic and beautiful. They're not about sad romances from what I can tell. You may have a point about classical music. But what about movie music? What about romantic music? Don't any Americans like that? There is plenty of that on the album, and many of the beautiful love songs are in English, not Italian! Okay, Jackie did not "steal" anything from anybody. I am not all that crazy about her, but I think it's really mean to accuse a little 11-year-old girl of "stealing", especially when you're talking about one of Jackie's favorite singers!! And now you're also blaming Hayley for releasing her album at the "wrong" time? Tell me, when exactly was she supposed to release it? She couldn't have done it any earlier than 2010, since that's when she was supposed to start making her new album. How many years was she supposed to wait for Jackie's popularity to fade? If Hayley had stayed with Celtic Woman, she may still be more well-known here, but NOT as an individual artist! She would have been just another lovely singer in the group. All we would have been getting from her would be a few solo songs, and the rest group songs. She wouldn't have much control over what she sang, or how she sang it. She would still have solo albums, but they would not be as prominent as the main CW albums. As I've said numerous times by now, it would have held her back as an artist. She wouldn't have done as much songwriting. And she certainly would not have had the amazing opportunity to work with Ennio Morricone!! The constant touring would have probably worn her down even worse than how she was in 2008/2009. Take a look at Celtic Woman now. Look at how many ladies have come and gone! And no wonder! Their entire lives are basically spent touring! They rarely get to go home and spend time with their families! Would you have wanted that life for Hayley? Also, Hayley would not have had the chance to become the huge success in Asia that she is right now, and she would have had to pretty much abandon her career in the UK as well. And she would not have met Arnaud, would she? So, yes, staying with CW might have been beneficial to Hayley's success in America, and give us more opportunities to see Hayley live. But it would not have been beneficial to Hayley, or to her fans in the rest of the world! I would far rather see Hayley performing live, at her own concert, singing her own songs, arranged the way she wants them, than seeing her singing 1 or 2 pretty little songs, all dressed up in a ball gown, and then swaying around to choreographed numbers with CW. If I have to go overseas to see a true Hayley concert, then I'll do it... someday. But I'm not giving up hope on Hayley coming here. Hayley even said herself in the Pollstar interview that she is " looking forward" to coming back to the States! And then on that Fox.com interview, the lady said to watch for US tour dates on Hayley's website, to which Hayley said "Yeah!" That sounds kind of promising to me!

I certainly would not wish to dampen your enthusiasm and of course I write with no greater factual knowledge than anyone else here but I think you have to interpret the remarks you quote as having been an immediate response to a live interview. A need to respond positively on the spur of the moment yet without actual commitment. However, let me air a possible strategy. She has momentum in Japan, needs maintenance; she has missed out a tour of NZ and is overdue, ties in with rugby; then there is the Rieu connection albeit a sideshow at the moment. America is a whole world in its own right. She is lightly traversing the world. Major concert sequence in UK early 2012, then, perhaps Europe? That leaves North America, or if you like, the Americas. That is a global epic in its own right and if she is to break the States, then it needs a concentrated continuous but paced effort. 2012/2013? Now she is building, hopefully, the financial argument for making that investment. Then a new album and back to Europe and Asia to promote it? Or, may be, launch that in the States and then Europe/Asia? and a return to the southern hemisphere. Just sharing personal thoughts as I think through the promotional logistics, if the money from the present scenario justifies the outlay. Peter S.

Yes, as I predicted, Bocelli's album has surpassed Hayley's in the Amazon charts.

Hi Libby. I certainly would not wish to dampen your enthusiasm and of course I write with no greater factual knowledge than anyone else here but I think you have to interpret the remarks you quote as having been an immediate response to a live interview. A need to respond positively on the spur of the moment yet without actual commitment. I think you're probably right in regards to the Fox interview. But if Hayley really thought she was never going to come, why would she even say yes at all? It seems to imply that a US tour is at least possible in the near future. Why would she want to lead us on like that, if there were no truth at all to it? Then in the Pollstar interview, although she does say there are no plans at the moment, she also says she's "looking forward" to coming. Now, if there were no chance of her ever coming here, ever, ever again, as several negative people seem to think, why would she say such a thing? Does she purposely want to lead us on? If it was so impossible and unlikely that she'll ever come back again (and she was just here, incidentally), then she would not be looking forward to coming back. Yes, you did dampen my enthusiasm a bit, but not for long. I refuse to get all depressed and pessimistic, like some others do here.
