I'd love to see what age group Hayley fans fall under, I am a guy and 17 years old (loved her since 15 XD)
Sorry if there's a thread like this already....or if it's in the wrong place.

Hi Simba, I am 20, and have known of Hayley and been hooked by her sicne the summer when I turned 19... I would say, however, the average age of Hayley's fanbase, as it happens with classical music, is quite older than us, let's put an average of... 40-50? However, ,we have several young fans around here, so it's that we are an exception, but a minority.
As for gender,. I think it's rather biased towards men, but I think not too much.

Hi Simba,
The stats from my Youtube channel (exclusively videos I have made of Hayley's performances) show she is most popular among 55-64 age group. Also between 20% and 33% female, so overwhelmingly male.
Interestingly her female fans are much more evenly distributed across the age spectrum, with perhaps a slight peak for the 13 to 17 agr group.

That's quite interesting It'd be nice if our forum members could just say how old they are (if they don't mind), so that we know more about the real diehard fans XD, (I'm guessing all real hayley fans only would be here in majority )

That's an interesting topic !! I'm a woman also and I will turn 22 in 2 months. I became a fan of Hayley the first time I heard one of her songs, about 3 years ago, when I was 18 !

Hi Simba, I'm 20 this year and I've been a fan of Hayley since 2007. My love for her voice and admiration for her as a person have been growing ever since. I only joined this forum last year though. Oh and I'm a girl. Hahaha. Btw nice painting of Hayley! There's a portrait thread somewhere around here if you'd like to share more of your paintings Oh found it! Here.cheers, Joanne

I am 55. I started buying Hayley's music after my life changed in 2009, but I first saw Hayley in 2004 and the memory stayed with me all through the intervening years.

Hi simba and everyone,
Interesting topic!
On our Youtube Channel, based on 1.3 million video views in the last two years, we can see the following:
Male 71% Female 29%
13-24 8% 25-34 6% 35-44 15% 45-54 33% 55-64 32% 65+ 6%
There were proportionately more young women than young men, with under 25s being the 3rd largest group of women (after the 45+ and 55+ groups). In the last month, there has been a slightly increased bias towards males in the 55-64 group.
On our new Facebook Page, which has been open for a month, it is completely different. The largest age group of visitors by far is under 25s (39%), followed by over 55s (16%). Male under 25s is, however, equalled by male over 55s, at 16% each.
Make of that what you will!
Cheers, Dave

Thanks guys, it's quite amazing that so far, mostly people are among their 20s! that's pretty cool, because it's surprising to see youngsters listening to good music (besides having so much negative influence around us these days XD)....It's better than I expected so far! And thanks Dave and martin for the overall critical analysis of the age groups Very interesting how video watchers group is different from the fb visitors. I'd rather assume fb visitors are more of those real fans Lets see, as this thread goes haha...

Hi, Simba... Well, let me disagree on your conclusions.
1st: Absolutely normal that the ones who have said our age here are mostly young, as older people would be more reticent to say their age, which is very understandable, I think.
2nd I would say the reason why Facebook distribution is different than youtube views, is because Facebook, even if used by people of all ages, is more intensively used by younger people, and so, those are more likely to find the HWI page and like it within a month. Youtube requires much less dedication, so it's normal that it's use is more age-balanced. I would also say that with time, some older Facebook users may find the HWI page and the stats will become more similar.
So, I would stay with my opinion that Hayley has more following between older people.
Dave, I guess we don't have stats for the ages of the HWI registered members, right? It would be the closest to what simba is looking for.

Yeah I want to see the age stats for HWI registered members XD that's the purpose of this thread. But the way I think it, if someone watched a video, doesn't mean they really like it, see there are various cases, 1. You'd have accidently clicked the link (it still comes under view count) 2. You'd have seen it in related videos, clicked it, and would not have liked it. 3. watched the video coz someone asked you to, yet you don't like it. I won't be surprised if there were MANY cases like the above, so I don't want this to confuse or get mingled with stats, which is why I didn't want to rely on the youtube analysis. However, the people at this site, must be much dedicated fans, ofcourse following hayley in everything she's doing, and mostly buying her CDs, I want to know under what age group these 'dedicated fans' come under

Certainly, but we could assume that those watching a video and not likeing Hayley are uniformly distributed through the age groups, meaning that they represent the same proportion in viewers of different ages. So, the youtube stats keep being a valid source to study Hayley's following, if we consider that there may be people who like her enough to search for her videos but are not to be considered fans who would like HWI facebook page or be members of HWI
If you want to know the age distribution of the most dedicated fans, certainly HWI users is a good representative, but asking HWiers to post one by one their ages may not be the best way to get true representative stadistics. If Dave could provide the official, anonymous stats, you would have exactly what you want.

Yeah you're right, but I'm not gonna like make a critical analysis or something, we could just randomly read the posts as they're posting, just to know on a general scale of the age groups of dedicated fans lol.
