Not that we know of, Jeff. With only hours to go, perhaps it would be as well to record it just in case.

She did pop across to Paris last weekend. I suspect that the All Blacks cannot do without her.

Hello Jeff and everyone, Well as (almost!) expected, Hayley did indeed sing the NZ National Anthem in Cardiff today and we heard her loud and clear... followed by Katherine Jenkins singing the Welsh National Anthem. Some time this evening, I will post a "Hayley only" video of it, followed by another including Katherine too. It certainly looks like Hayley is the All Blacks unofficial mascot for their games - when both are on the same continent! Oh, I can move this thread to the Media board now and I'll edit the thread title slightly too Cheers, Dave

Hi everyone (especially George!)
I actually managed to keep it together and record Hayley this time!!
Nice to see both Hayley and Katherine keeping it casual and wearing jeans - don't suppose "fancy frocks" are appropriate for a rugby field anyway!!
Don't think I'll ever tire of hearing Hayley sing "her" anthem.

Wales 10-45 New Zealand I'm glad that Hayley sang the New Zealand anthem in Cardiff! Regarding the cricket...I wanted to see the result in the Brisbane Test; Australia had a good day by the look of it. Better luck to England on day 5! Hi Joe Grant and everyone, Well Joe you beat me to it because I was writing this message and previewing it but by the time I hit the "Post" button, my login period expired and I lost the lot. Grrr!!!! The moral is: Always logon to HWI forever! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif So here goes again. Yes, Hayley did it again! She sang God Defend New Zealand with her usual spirit and pride and it certainly worked yet again, as mentioned by Joe! When hasn't it worked? The sound setup was correct this time so we have good recordings of it - just Hayley's part tonight but on Sunday i'll post a longer version including Katherine Jenkins (who sang the Welsh National Anthem). It was nice to see the two of them singing at the same match again! NZ Anthem - Hayley - DVD quality (2m 27s, 1Mbps, 18 MB) NZ Anthem - Hayley - VHS quality (2m 27s, 400Kbps, 7.2MB) NZ Anthem - Hayley - dial-up quality (2m 27s, 120Kbps, 2.2MB) Cheers, Dave

Congratulations Hayley and New Zealand, and bad luck Katherine and Wales! That was a magnificent and different version of the NZ National Anthem. I noticed only a few players were singing along with the first verse in Maori, but then the whole crowd burst into song for the second verse in English. It seemed to amuse Hayley, because she very nearly grinned at that moment! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThanks for posting the video so quickly, Dave! Best Wishes, Richard

I've found a news report that confirms there was a major disagreement over the Haka in Cardiff yesterday. I won't post a transcript because it's a long story that doesn't really involve Hayley, but you can read all about it at icWales.co.uk HERE. Best Wishes, Richard

Thanks from me too Dave. Brilliant clip & I loved her smile as all the kiwis joined in for the (better known) English version. Here's the smile as near as I could capture it:Below is the screenshot off the Welsh website icwales which is the result of a Welsh vote as to who would win & by how much!!!Graemek PS. Hmmm,
I have followed the build-up to the Wales v. NZ match with more than a passing interest.
And I feel truly sorry that Wales wasn't able to inflict a defeat on the All Blacks.
There have been two controversies in recent days related to the Wales v. NZ game.
In the first place, there was this columnist of the NZ Herald who referred to the Welsh Rugby Union Team as the "Village idiots of World Rugby". That in my view was a shameful comment, and even NZ's head coach wasn't happy with it.
And now we have this kerfuffle about the haka. Why? Only because the NZ rugby team was asked to perform it between the NZ and Welsh anthem. Tradition demanded that it would be performed immediately prior to the match.
As a neutral observer form Holland, I have always had sympathy for the performances of smaller countries (including NZ in the rugby), but I have very little sympathy for the arrogance that has emanated from the NZ camp in recent days.
I for one would only rejoice if the haka would disappear from the world rugby scene forever, as I have always associated the haka with a misplaced expression of male superiority and aggression.
Congratulations to Australia for beating the New Zealanders in the Rugby League Tri-nations final. Hopefully you'll manage something similar in Rugby Union soon.
I think the NZ Rugby Union team deserves a severe beating, and the sooner, the better.

Hi Gerrit,
That NZ Herald columnist is a fool and deserves the criticism he's had, even from his home team's management. But I think we read too much into all this Haka business. The fact is that the NZ team have been better than all the UK teams (including my team England) for a long time now and it's no surprise to me to find the UK teams occasionally introduce distractions in an effort to improve their chances of achieving a surprise result.
The Haka incident is no more or less than such a distraction - engineered by the Welsh Rugby authorities or management. Wales knew what the NZ reaction would be before they asked them to move the timing of the Haka. This is because NZ agreed to move it last year as a one-off special gesture - and told them that they wouldn't move it again. So to try and insist on this again this year was I think a bit of gamesmanship from the Welsh Rugby authorities. Football Managers do this kind of thing all the time. but sometimes, they backfire and this one certainly seems to have done (judging by the result).
If any home team wants the Haka (or similar established ceremonies by other teams) banned, limited or moved, and the opposing teams will not agree, then they should leave it unchanged for the match in question and take up the matter though the competent sports ruling body. The Welsh authorities have had a year to do this since NZ told them last year they wouldn't move the Haka again.
I firmly believe that such ceremonies have very little if any effect on the result of matches (though they are an added part of the entertainment for spectators) so attempting to interfere with them or move them except by mutual agreement is fraught with the danger of backfiring as happened on Saturday. Own goal, Welsh Rugby Authorities; own goal.
As for the music, well I think the traditional way the two Anthems are sung - one after the other as on Saturday - is by far the best way to do them. What could be better than watching and listening to Hayley followed immediately by Katherine singing their respective National Anthems with pride, standing side by side on the pitch? It was a sight to behold and such Anthem ceremonies should not be interfered with at any sports event, in my opinion.
Cheers, Dave
