This post and Libby's reply have been moved from the Jackie Evancho thread by Richard. But really, I'm wondering more what Prince Poppycock will do! I'm kind of hoping for O Fortuna just for Nicola! I'd like him to do 'Funiculí, Funiculá' - I think it suits him. I may well like him, then. I really didn't like him doing Queen. The second song he did in that weird joker outfit was a lot better as it was quite raw, artistic and theatrical. Queen was just cheap shots, and him doing modern music like that detracts from his persona.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about it, either, but it was just so funny that I didn't mind. But he really needs to do something better. On Twitter when I said "his crossover side" I was kind of just kidding. You don't have to judge him against classical crossover artists, since that doesn't seem to be what he's trying to be. He's a showman. And he's good at it. He does have a good voice, or he wouldn't be there. Some people here aren't impressed at Josh Groban's voice; does that mean he's not good? I don't care for Jonathan Ansell's voice, but that doesn't mean I'm doubting his singing capability. Being a good singer is more than about carrying a tune, and Poppycock definitely does more than that. But I think we ought to start a AGT thread if we're to discuss this anymore. I don't want moderators getting mad. Oh, the joker one was actually his 3rd performance. His second one was during Las Vegas week. He was a little bit sick, but he still did really well, but of course they made a big drama out of it. I don't know the name of the song. Somebody on youtube thought it might be from La Traviata, but I'm not sure.

Thank you. The second semi-finals show is tomorrow, and on Wed. they'll see who's in the top 10. I don't think there's any doubt Jackie will make it.

NBC re-aired the first semifinal performances this evening. I just learned how the next rounds will go... The top five from the two semifinals will advance to a September 7 show. Results announced on the 8th. From there, the four highest vote-getters perform Sept. 14 and the winner will be announced the next day. Joe

WHOO! So, it's like, 18 hours to go, or something? I'm excited that it's on tonight, but then I remember it's probably on at 3am. GOOD LUCK JACKIE! <3 Libby - you can hit me with the Vegas performance.

That's 'La Donna È Mobile' from Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Rigoletto". I apologize, Libby, if you intended Nicola to respond to this I really enjoyed tonight's AGT. Two hours of solid performances. Picked my top 5 Still voting

Picked my top 5 Still voting I recognised it instantly. Lol. XD Yea, that song really would have suited him if they showed a longer version and whilst his voice was affected a little, it wasn't that bad. :/ They make such a big deal of everything.

Thanks, Joe and Nicola. No problem, Joe. I directed it at Nicola, but your answer was appreciated, as well. I wanted to hear more of the song, too!

I was surprised that Alice didn't make it. I do understand why the judges wanted to keep the dancers. They are really good. What I don't understand is why Jeremy made it. Sure, it's dangerous and unique, but I don't know... One thing I will say, it seems like there's somebody every year like Alice that sings that exact same song. It was last year or the year before, a middle-aged lady, not too different from Alice, same the exact same song! She just isn't unique. They should sing different songs, otherwise it just gets old. Also, she's the mom of somebody who's already famous.

Sure, it's dangerous and unique, but I don't know... Hi Libby, Yeah! I agree about Alice Tan Ridley,,,that was a shock to see her leave. And Jeremy's death-defying bicycle ride...he messed up that part w/ the chair stunt. How much farther can he take it? I hope he didn't have to visit the hospital. I voted for 8 out of the top 10 and the 10 acts left are: Anna & Patryk Christina & Ali Taylor Matthews Michael Grimm Prince Poppycock Michael Grasso Studio One Young Beast Society Jeremy Van Schoonoven Jackie Evancho Fighting Gravity

It's hard to say who will really be in the final, but I think Jackie and Prince Poppcock will, and I really, really hope Anna & Patryk make it. They're exceptional young dancers. I would guess Michael Grimm will make it, too. Fighting Gravity are interesting, and the dance group are pretty good. If the first 4 I listed all made it, there would only be one act left that is not a singer! I'm glad there's a set voting limit, at least, so you know for sure when you've voted as much as you possibly could. I wish AI and SYTYCD would set a limit too, but the theory is that they like to be able to brag about the staggering amount of votes they received the night before.
