Hello folks! Now we know Hayley's Morricone album won't be released this year, I've modified the title of this thread slightly. Richard

Starbucks anyone? Although I have no idea how the business works in order to have an album at the local starbucks cafe but the atmosphere of a coffee shop seems suitable for her music (who am i kidding all places are suitable for her music!). only problem is I am not a fan of Starbucks since it started taking over my neighborhood! Ok sidetracked back on topic.

I know you're all tired of me bringing up Josh Groban, but what meldy said relates. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRecently Josh tweeted something about Starbuck's playing his songs. I'm sure it's up to the individual shop, but if they can do it for Josh, they might do it for other singers, too. I don't go there, either, for the simple fact that I do not drink coffee. Now, please don't express your shock about that here, as that would be severely off-topic.

While I do find the occasional popular artist albums sold at the cashier counter, some places do have "rare" artists playing in the background or their albums displayed on the counter, and I guess rare gems like Hayley's music could be a good idea. I have a local non-starbucks related coffee shop that I think might be open to new music ideas Meldy

Hopefully, with the announcement of the release date for the album now getting close, it is interesting to note the main strategy taken by record companies and major retailers when launching a new album here in the UK (and perhaps elsewhere). It is fact that:
1) With album marketing budgets under constant scrutiny by record companies these days, most companies will usually stop the promotion of an album after two weeks if it hasn't entered the charts 2) Most UK supermarket chains do not sell albums until they are in the charts (or in a few cases, are paid to sell it by the record company) 3) 40% of all album sales are during the lead up to Christmas.
I am sure Decca has taken these factors into consideration for the launch of Hayley's album but it is easy to see why so many new artists find it difficult to sell an album.
Let's hope that Decca will provide sufficient funding to launch what I believe will be a ground breaking album. If they do then there is no reason why the demand shouldn't be created?

I'm not sure whether they've done this before, but when the album is set to be released, PBS stations should advertise it. But that's doubtful, since they usually only do that when they're playing that artist's special performance, or they're going to be touring the area soon. But PBS viewers are the perfect audience to advertise it to, since many might be Hayley fans because of Celtic Woman, and in general the station plays a lot of classical/crossover artist's performances. Now if only Hayley would have a new show for them to play. Jillian's idea for a live show from Rome would be excellent.

hi.
wasnt sure where to put this but has anyone noted that her new, shiny, facebook page doesnt refer to myspace... obviously this isnt thought of as a vehicle for promoting the new album. This in my opinion is a very good piece of marketing and may reflect a desire to stay with her audience and keep up with current communication modalities....
but then it could just be she, and her people have forgotten myspace. like the rest of the world
