I know I'm going to catch it for this comment; but I'm still going to make it. In my opinion Hayley wasted a lot of valuable time with the Morricone recording. I think she would have better spent her time with some new material and some new forms of music. Morricone was not well known in many parts of the world and were thus not that impressed by the album. The sales figures bear this out. I think she was misled by he managers and somewhat star struck by a former big name albeit a name from the past. O K you may take your shots at me now....but I'm sticking with my opinion.
Larry.

All opinions, Larry My own opinion is that Paradiso is doing incredibly well for an album by a non-mainstream artist. Certainly in Britain it's sold very well, and judging by the increase in views on HWI's YouTube channel (As mentioned in that topic), it sounds like Paradiso has drawn Hayley to the attention of a lot of new people. The absolute bottom line for me, though, is that it's a very good album. Maybe a mainstream pop album would sell better for Hayley, but would it be as good as Paradiso? I rather doubt it. Sales help, but they are not everything So yeah - no shots, just a difference of opinion

Hi Larry and everyone.
I think, Larry, in your consideration that Hayley "wasted some time" you have overlooked the key essential: she is the girl she is and she is LIVING A LIFE. So, we sometimes 'waste' it on projects that may not seem to give the 'commercial' return justified. That's commerce, not living!
What Hayley has herself said she gained from Ennio was that he pushed her as an artist and as a person. He gave her insights into musical interpretation. This is knowledge gained for the long haul but, hey, it is also 'getting a life' and having fun.
W H Davies in his poem 'Leisure' wrote: "What is this life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare." There are many ways of standing and staring and not literally being static and noninvolved. That is what living and being alive is all about, not simply commerce.
In a recent seminar discussing the complications of Graham Greene as a writer, in his personal and literary conflicts between good and evil, I observed that "Life is the soul travelling in an overcoat to gain experience."
Gaining experience, knowledge, understanding is what makes the world go round and Hayley is fascinated by all aspects of life. She takes her time as her inclination determines. It is the quality of life that she measures and weighs up not the commercial or popularity gain. Yes, there has to be some give and take between her aspirations as a person and the demands of the record company to justify their financial support on behalf of their shareholders but Hayley is a 'give' not a 'take' person, so I doubt they have ever had to remonstrate with her more than lightly, if at all.

I think this is Hayley's best album to date- I think Morricone really did push her compared to her earlier albums- which I do love as well. I think that the music industry is so obsessed with sales and obviously they need that to make money, but I think the music should come first and some artists sell a lot, but I don't think the music is great, but hayley always sticks to what she is good at and I think it would be worse if she just focused on sales rather that recording good music. Obviously everyone has a different opinion- personally I love this album.

Hello Larry and everyone
Larry, I can't see how you can come to the conclusion that Hayley "wasted" her time working with Maestro Morricone on Paradiso. It was Hayley (or her management) that approached him in the first place and Hayley herself has said how much she was pushed to discover abilities she didn't know she had. That has to be a good and very positive thing for her career. She has many years ahead of her and plenty of opportunity to try other, new things, but this colaboration will have boosted Hayley's confidence in her ability and anyway, I wonder how her career would have fared if she were to become known as "the girl who turned down the opportunity to work with Ennio Morricone!"
Paradiso is a wonderful album - a masterpiece (thanks Steve!) and I'm sure it will sit well as a significant milestone in Hayley's career.
Best wishes Grant

Hello Larry and everyone I wonder how her career would have fared if she were to become known as "the girl who turned down the opportunity to work with Ennio Morricone!" Paradiso is a wonderful album - a masterpiece (thanks Steve!) and I'm sure it will sit well as a significant milestone in Hayley's career. Best wishes Grant A bit like the the Ehum ! record company that turned down the Beatles. Paradiso will sell for decades, of that I have no doubt. I thought it was Ennio who sought out Hayley, not the other way around, To me, that was a compliment of the highest order from a composer of the highest standing. I took it as a personal compliment as well, that I too thought Hayley's voice was both unique and original enough to be the one selected for this wonderful project. some of you may have noticed that Katherine Jenkins had recorded a few Morricone tracks, but was not the one selected to do a whole album. I like Katherine a lot, her concerts can be quite light hearted and very entertaining, but Katherine and Hayley are both quite distinctive in their own different ways. Forgive me as I am biased, having been a Morricone fan since I was in short trousers, His music has been through many phases, Avant garde, Bizzare, sometimes genius beyond my comprehension (The Chamber Music album) or maybe he was just fulfilling a record contract with Virgin records  Some of his music is so obscure, you would be lucky to track down a recording or a copy of the film it was on. There are many who have yet to hear of Hayley, Even those yet unborn, this album will find many new fans, no matter what language they speak. I don't think we have sales figures yet for Hayley's larger markets, China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand to mention just a few. I don't think initial sales are that important, I hope they aren't that important to Hayley either. As long as the album is easily available, it will continue to sell, Unless of course the planet is completely invaded by Hayliens, then everyone will already have a copy

I thought it was Ennio who sought out Hayley, not the other way around, Hi Comet I believe originally, yes, for a project that never materialised. For Hayley's latest album, I believe he was approached about doing one track with Hayley but came back with a proposal to do the complete album together. Best wishes Grant
