Hi Geralynn, "Scarborough Fair" was one of my favorites, as well. It seems that she really enjoys herself being on stage with CW, and doing some new choreography. I'm glad she was well received....yet again! And to see her that many times in such a short amount of time, How lucky you are!! It's a good thing, I don't get jealous. :2fun: Best Wishes, Eric

Hi Geralynn! Many thanks for your great report from Long Beach. Looks like you had a fantastic time with your cousin at the concert. I'm sure you will treasure the memory for a long time! Best wishes, Stephany

Post 269. Fascinating 'carpet bag' Hayley is lugging on her shoulder. Looks like something you would pick up in Morocco! Any ideas anyone? My comment is an example yet again of the practical girl over-riding 'prettiness'. Although the bag looks very expensive and is probably exquisitely tooled in leather, nonetheless one feels this is not a fashion statement as a 'needs must' statement.

Hi Richard & everyone I agree with you Richard, I was never sure about Hayley playing second fiddle to Il Divo, I just wouldnt have been keen to go to one of those concerts. I am sure that she did aquire many new fans though, which I guess was the object of the exercise. However, I am completely behind the decision for Hayley to gain some exposure via CW, not only because Hayley is part of the main event this time, but because she just fits in so well overall and I love listening to CW as a whole. In my veiw, a much more effective way to promote Hayley in the states Best wishes Mark I echo your sentiments entirely, Mark. I think, in retropsect, we can look back and say, 'if she hadn't anything else to do she might as well have done it!' Might actually be the reason she did! Peter S.

Absolutely delighted for you Geralynn. Thank you for your posts. I don't feel so guilty now about our fun times here in the UK now that others abroad are beginning to gain the regularity of Hayley, Hayley, Hayley--okay, yours is a unique expereince and we remain fortunate to be so spoilt in the UK but I'm very pleased to hear about your fun and enjoyment of Hayley.

I suspect that they were dressed down in general - call it "relaxed mode". Chloe certainly was making no fashion statment I do wonder what she has to carry that takes that much room....perhaps the tour bus may break down, and it is her repsonsibility to carry the tools? Women and purses are in general a fascinating study.... Jon

Now that Hayley's CW tour is nearly coming to an end, looks like the CW fans are starting to wonder if she will pursue her association with the group. I'm probably not wrong if I say that the answer is "no", right? See original post here. See original post here. See original post here.

Hi Stephany
You raise an interesting point and I'm not sure whether or not there IS a definitive answer yet.
Early on in Hayley's association with Celtic Woman it was suggested she would "dip in and out" suggesting that she would perform with them when convenient to both parties. I don't think that has changed.
However, I think we have all become aware of the appreciation for Hayley that has been expressed by many, many Celtic Woman fans who, it now seems would be loathe to let her go. Indeed, I believe Hayley feels that she IS a member of the group. Think back to her recent interview on Premier TV when the interviewer asked her about CW. Hayley, when asked about numbers, clearly said "...... six now" thus including herself.
OK, that was at the beginning of the tour in early March and we have also heard Hayley say what SHE wants to do with HER career, so I personally think that Hayley will always see her solo career as being of prime importance. I also hope that that remains the case!
Notwithstanding all that, I would love to see the Celtic Woman show tour in Europe with ALL the girls and I would certainly be in several of the audiences!!
Best wishes Grant

While Hayley has probably benefitted from the experience of touring with them, too much association with CW will water down her individuality in a market like America where she really needs to stand out. The last thing she needs is to be just one of the Celtic Women, especially since she's a global star in her own right, to a far greater extent than any of the others. It's ironic that she's regarded by some as an "honorary member" of CW when it's a much bigger honor for CW to have three million-selling Hayley in their midst. They should be considered "honorary back-up singers" for Hayley!

Hi Steve,
I see where you are coming from, and there will come a point in which touring with CW would not be in her best interests. However, I dont know that this point has been reached yet - or will be reached at the end of this tour-of-duty. She does after all have to establish an American presence first before it can be watered down.

... She does after all have to establish an American presence first before it can be watered down. Well she's not that unknown here. All the music folks at Borders and Barnes & Noble here have heard of her as well as the PBS-going cognoscente. I don't know about you, but I'd squirm if she ever inadvertantly took on the identity of "former-CW member Hayley Westenra" as if that were her primary claim to fame, yet that's precisely how the American media might play it someday.

Interesting point Steve!! But I certainly didn't intend to 'water down' Hayley's global position, and no way should she ever be known as a former CW member As for who should be 'honorary', well, I agree entirely! Best wishes Grant

Steve,
When the first Celtic Woman special was replaying In St Louis last year, they announced that Hayley was going to join CW. Depiste the fact that the same guy had hosted Live from New Zealand, the "PBS cogniscenti" - or at least that presenter - didnt know her from a chicken.
It is possible of course that she has a greater presence in your sphere than mine - and yes I would cringe it turned out that CW was perceived to be the high point of her career in America. At the same time though that presupposes future failures doesnt it?
In the meantime, the sales figures of this tour suggest that it just might be the most lucrative thing she has done yet in terms of her personal income.

Hello folks! Hayley's present involvement with Celtic Woman's North American tour is due to end on 23rd May. I haven't heard about any future plans for Hayley with CW, so perhaps she and her management are playing it by ear at the moment. Personally I think Hayley's next move in the US should be a short tour playing her own concerts, preferably in cities where she's only sung with Celtic Woman so far. This might be a good way to assess the long-term effect of her involvement with CW. Best Wishes, Richard
