Can we expect Hayley to be in the last 10?

Hello Drew! I don't know if I've missed something, because I'm totally baffled by your post, and I bet I'm not the only one. Could you tell us a bit more, please? Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Richard, How do you solve a problem like Maria? is the title of a new BBC reality TV show due to start this evening! www.bbc.co.uk/maria/about/about_show.shtmlIt's for anyone to apply so technically, Hayley could have applied... but I don't think it's very likely that she will have done so! But if she has done, she will probably win it! Drew, do you know something we don't know? Cheers, Dave

Thanks for the information, Dave! I really must try to watch more TV, because I was wondering if this question was something to do with 'Ave Maria'! I will also be very surprised if Hayley has entered, because talent shows are surely a thing of the past for her now! Best Wishes, Richard

Hello Drew! I don't know if I've missed something, because I'm totally baffled by your post, and I bet I'm not the only one. Could you tell us a bit more, please? Best Wishes, Richard Sorry Richard, I thought that it was time to start a new thread. As it is approaching August and that is when the press enter the silly season, we must be running out of things to say about Cadogan Hall until it actually happens. (Could we bring Andrew down to take some pictures of the stage door?) I recall seeing a thread a while ago, I am not sure whether is was HWI or HW forum on the subject of a possible West End appearance. And I was was further prompted when I did a search on Hayley at Wikipedia: "Rumors have emerged of further UK touring in the fall as well as of a possible West End appearance, but so far few details have been released and that could change very quickly." I remember the forum thread talking about the role of Maria (and I searched and searched this morning and could not find it), and the author would not say which Maria role Hayley was being considered for, the options were Sound of Music or West Side Story. Now, was I dreaming or will some HWI executive confess to making this comment. Hence, to clear the air, I ask the audience if Hayley has approached or been approached by Lord Lloyd-Webber. Considering the circles in which she moves, I do not doubt either option. Perhaps this other Andrew ( L-W) had approached Hayley and she declined. Hence the need for an open competition. But can you imagine a purer nun than Hayley? However, if it was really West Side Story that she was after, I am completely wrong.

Hi Drew,
I don't recall the role of either Maria being mentioned on HWI.
Hayley's appearance in a long-running but unnamed West End production was first mentioned in the concert programme at Hampton Court in June 2005. That will not now be happening but it was neither the Sound of Music nor West Side Story.

Hi drew, I have just looked back through the Edinburgh Castle thread, and can not find a single picture of the stage door, what I did find was a superb build up to the event, with pictures, and probably one of the best written concert reports during the Castles tour, from one of our own UK corespondents. Getting back on topic, i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif sorry I did not get the gist of this topic from the thread title, and Richard and I live in the UK, so what chance did the international members stand? Have Fun Steve H

Hayley will be going home for two weeks at the end of July. Provided nothing changes between now and then, it should be nothing but R&R. After that, it's back to business and she is pretty much booked up (or at least her time is earmarked) for the rest of the year. This includes the hitherto un-named West End production which was first mentioned last summer (in the Hampton Court programme). Sorry Roger, I am trying to catch up with history. Just so that I can sleep tonight, what was the un-named West End production or does it still remain un-named? Above refers to your quote of 21/04/06. I am still determined to find out where Maria comes into this.

Dear Steve H, Perhaps you missed this one of the stage door. As you say, a thorough an excellent report from Andrew, nothing missed.

Your assumption is correct in that the name of the West End production was never released. If you discover where Maria comes into this, please let us know because I am now equally intrigued. Better still, get her to join the forum and she can tell us herself! Roger

Well after the first edition I am sure that we can all agree that there was someone missing from the line up.
Our Hayley has no comparison.
She would fit all the requirements: youth, a perfect voice, a sense of humour and someone who loves and cares for children.

You're quite right, Drew. Hayley can act and dance too. But she is not a complete unknown which is one of ALW's criteria.

Actually I was the one who posted on the Wikipedia that there were rumors (some of which are now being confirmed) of further UK touring and a possible West End appearance this fall, although, as I noted, things like that can (and apparently have) changed very quickly. Although I don't belong to that site I occasionally tweak the articles of favorite artists. I did get some further bits and pieces from my discussion with Steve Abbott in Easton last year, but of course that's now old information.
It is kinda a pity that Hayley won't be appearing on stage in the West End just yet, but I would like to think that she and her management team know best, and if they decided against it, it was probably the right decision for the moment. Hayley would have made a believeable Maria in West Side Story, though she'd have needed a black wig, and maybe a decent Maria in the Sound of Music, though I'm still thinking about that one. She would without a doubt make a tremendous Christine in Phantom, but I suppose we shouldn't press her with this or that role.
I guess she's home for the moment, though, and I hope she's sleeping late and enjoying her cocoa (it's winter in NZ), before it's back to business all too soon.

This looks like a great show on the BBC. I knew when I read the subject of the post that this was about The Sound of Music. Hayley would be brilliant as Maria in either musical. Hayley, I Have Confidence in you, Climb Every Mountain. I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don't feel so bad. Something's coming, something good, If I can wait, I don't know what it is. But it is gonna be great! So long, farewell, Joe
