HI all! I'm glad to read that the Germans on this forum take it so well . Cause on the news I saw a few (yes just a few) who weren't so supportive toward NL. I hope that mr. Octopus is predicting something....exciting....though I'm afraid to watch.... Anyway, I'm gone for the weekend, so maybe I'll miss the first half of the match. Though I don't mind, I never watch the full match. I always listen to the neighbourhood screaming their lungs out . But I guess the way back home will be very quiet on the highway haha! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifSharon

At least the English will have someone in the final as Howard Webb is the ref with English linesmen. Let's hope they are not noticed, i.e. no controversial decisions ! On the lunchtime news Paul the Octopus has selected Germany and Spain to both win this weekend. (Spain are even money to win in 90 mins. It could be a tight match so better value is 8/1 Spain to win in extra time. If you lose money, blame Paul not me !) The octochamp has a rival however. A parrot has selected Holland to win. These two remind me of financial advisers: half of them say the stock market will go up, half say down.Truth is, none of them has any more idea than you or meas to the outcome. Half of them will be right. The other half will be as sick as a parrot !!

Oh no! I really hope that this creature is wrong!
Lets hope the parrot is right then.
My dad never heard of this octopus who was able to predict stuff (neither did I before though), when he heard that he predicted Spain to win and that there was a parrot who choose NL to win, he said 'Well then the Parrot's right' Hahahaha!
We'll find out on sunday, though animals seem to know more then we do...so never doubt them!
And if NL will loose, then we can add WC final loss number three in our history book of soccer.
Have a nice weekend!
Sharon

That octopus had to chose for Spain, because someone whispered to it.....if not.... Paul will end in the Paella !!!! so finally, it will be the Netherlands !!! Looks like the Netherlands will explode coming sunday !!! @ Sharon, did you see on SBS 6, the guinea pig (cavia) race?? They all went into the Dutch hole, so don't worry!!! Greetz JOYCE

Yep Paul the Octopus has picked Spain to win. Maybe he wants to live in Spain lol. (He has already had death threats in Germany ). In NZ we had an Octopus picking South Africa to beat the All Blacks tonight in the Rugby .

Wow, Octopuses, Parrots, Guinea Pigs? I didn't know that there are so many animals for predicting the results, haha! But anyway, it's not long now. We'll see what happens finally Cheers, Anshita

What World Cup? Oh, is that what all the noise has been about? Ok, as some of you will know, I have no interest in football but, during the past few weeks, there has been no getting away from it so I have, at least, kept an eye on the results. Now, following several sessions in the garden, I am exhausted so I am about to adjourn to the lounge and put my feet up and the television on. Provided I don't fall asleep (a distinct possibility), it will be the first match I will have seen in its entirety since the 1966 World Cup Final! It better be good, that's all I can say! And as for my prediction? I reckon the octopus will beat the parrot 1-0 See you in four years folks! Roger

I'm going to watch the finals since I'm up and it only comes once every 4 years anyway! Not rooting for any team in particular though; not much of a football fan.. Well not anything of one, really. Good luck to everyone supporting either team!
cheers, Joanne

In the first half, Netherlands have stopped Spain from playing the way they like. But many, many faults in this match, some quite dirty.

I just arrived back from a weekend away and I 'missed' jsut about 15 min. of the final. Though it's not thrilling.
I'm not even watching it now... The neighbourhood is going crazy at moments. But mostly it is frustration. I don't know the score, but my dad is completely nuts as he is talking by himself in the livingroom....he seems to know how to play....though I bet he couldn't pop one in....
I decided to watch a movie, and try to calm the dog, as she is pretty nervous by all the noises around.
@ Joyce, yes I did saw the guinea Pigs....but it seems all animals know how it's going to happen. Hahaha! I bet the guy put treats in the back of the Holland hole haha!

i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Congrats to Spain for the 1 nil win in extra time. Sorry to Holland. Well Paul the Octopus keeps his 100% record of predictions. I wonder if he could now predict who will win the Rugby World Cup next year.
