Hi guys I'm doing a school project on Hayley. It's a biography and I have to show it to the class. If you know anything interesting can u plz help me? Also, what song should I put on? I luv all of them but I don't know about my class as they luv pop-tarts. My teacher told me about her showed me her songs on Youtube. She is my favouriite singer for ever. I'm doing a monologue and everyone is going to ask me questions as if I'm Hayley. So I need lots of info. I'm not lazy asking u guys I just want a fans point of view. Sorry if you've read this b4 on Facebook! Thanks for helping spread the HayleyLove!

Hi Vannessa, What in particular did you want to know? The biography on Hayley's official website and wikipedia are good places to start for general information. If you want more specific things, there's some pretty knowledgeable people here! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif As for the song to play -- you should play the one you like the most and think is the best! It doesn't really matter too much that the rest of the class likes pop music -- so do most young people. But it doesn't mean that they mightn't be open to new things. Cheers, Jillian

Ye I can see there's pretty knowledgable ppl on here I would like a song that might appeal to the others in my class who luv miley rihanna and taylor but also open their minds to different music. Um maybe a favourite video or concert too? I'm a new fan and have a month to do it. Thank you again for your help i appreciate it a lot.

Hi Vanessa What an interesting project! If you can get hold of Hayley's latest biography "In her own voice" then that will provide all the info you are likely to need other than her album list. There are also many recordings on YT. Regarding which song to choose for your class then perhaps a more up-beat song would be more suitable than, say, one of Hayley's traditional recordings such as her signature tune "Pokarekare Ana". I can recommend any number of recordings in this category from Hayley's album "Hayley Sings Japanese Songs 1". The choice is yours. Good luck with the project Martin

Hi Vanessa, may i suggest Across The Universe of Time (Remix with James Last)? You could play it from youtube, uploaded by user eoarwyn. It's got a lot of rhythm and drums, etc that the rest of our generation may be more used to, while her voice still remains very prominent.
Hope your project goes well! Haha I wish I had such cool projects.
cheers, Joanne

Hi Vanessa,
Those Japanese albums are pricey, if you live in the UK around 30ukp each on import from Japan.
For something typically Hayley, and a bit poppy, how about "Never Saw Blue" from Hayley's second international album Oddysey? Or perhaps "Listen to the Wind", the song written for Hayley by James Horner, who wrote the score for the movie Titanic. You might be able to listen to these songs on Youtube, and perhaps download individual tracks from iTunes or somewhere similar. It all depends on what you think will appeal. Some of Hayley's classical tracks show awesome vocal technique. Things to major on are her perfect pitch and the way she seems to have thought about every note she sings, how best to express it. If there are any specific questions you want to ask about Hayley I will attempt to answer them, as I'm sure will others here. If necessary, we can ask Hayley herself, although she might not answer. Looking at Joanne's sig, "You are Water" is a pop song that some of your classmates may like. Songbird (from River of Dreams) is another possibility. I Know you by Heart is another song sung by Eva Cassidy, that Hayley has made her own, but she hasn't recorded it (yet). If she had, that might well be first choice. The problem is that Hayley's repertoire and ability is so wide ranging that it is impossible IMO to sum her up in a single song. But taking the whole lot together, she is absolutely unique. The first time i heard Hayley was livem, and it took me all of 10 seconds to decide she was world class, and probably the finest singer I had ever heard. You have a wonderful project. And people here are very friendly. So ask away.

Hi guys!! WOW thank you so so much for your help. Yes it is a good project - especially when u can pic your topic! Martin - thanx heaps - I'm looking at those songs now Jillian - that is a great thread and I've got some info from it. U rock! Carlos - thanx Joanne - I <3 that song! I didn't know about the remix. Thanx heaps! Martin- thanks! I live in Australia so I will c if I can find the CD. Thank u for the song suggestions I will go thru them (oh such hard homework!!!!!!!!!) For the presentation I don't know it I should wear a dress or casual clothes to be Hayley? I'm definitely having a side pony tail tho! What colours does she usually wear? Hayley fans r the BEST! My teacher gave us the questions here thay r: Explain why your subject has the "X" factor. What are their main achievements? Construct a time line of major life events. How have they influenced people (or their field of work?) What inspires/ motivates your subject? What kind of criticism does your subject face? Interesting facts. Be prepared to dress up as your subject and answer questions from the press (the class) So my class will jot down questions as I do the presentation. Then they can ask ANYTHING! THANK YOU

That'll be a nice project! I hope it will produce some more fans...
It's a pity that so many people just don't know Hayley...Everytime I mention her name, they're like 'Never heard of her'.
But when I pursuade them into listening to some songs on youtube, they are like 'That lady has some pipes!'
She deserves so much more...

Hi Vanessa
What a wonderful project! I almost wish that I was still at school so that I could do the same as you - lol
Anyway, its interesting that the first question is: Explain why your subject has the 'X' factor! Wow, where do I start? I have lived through some changes and trends in terms of music and there has been a number of artists, from various genres, from the 1960's through the years that I have liked. However, up until 2005, at age 46, I had only ever been to 2 concerts to see any of those artists live.
It was in 2005 that I first came across Hayley and I discovered her pure, wonderful voice. At the very first concert I met her afterwards and also discovered her warm and generous personality. If you should ever get the chance to see Hayley sing live and if you should also meet her, you would also know that Hayley definitely has the 'X' factor. The only problem is, its not easy to describe why. In the last 5 years I have been to 43 Hayley concerts!! Maybe that says it all.
I don't know if my ramblings will help you at all Vanessa but, very good luck with the project and keep asking away, no-one here minds talking about Hayley!
Best wishes
Mark

Why does Hayley have the X Factor.
1. Her voice. Terrific power, excellent range, and above all the best control I have heard from any singer. Plus the wonderful gift of perfect pitch. Hayley never ever sings a note even slightly out of tune unless she does it deliberately, as when mimicing Kate Bush on Wuthering Heights.
2. Her vocal technique. Or rather tachniques. She does things with her voice I have never heard from any other singer. And some things, like playing her voice like an orchestral instrument, she could not do without her outstanding control. She can sing in any style, opera, classical, sacred songs, musical theatre, gospel, folk, country, celtic, pop, even rap and jazz!
3. Her songwriting. Sometimes her lyrics are a little clumsy, but despite that, have immense charm. She is certainly a fine lyricist.
4. Her choice of songs. Always uplifting and inspiring, and always seeming to fit in with her outlook on life.
5. Her beauty, dress sense and movements on stage.
6. Her off stage activites, particularly her charity work.
7. Her lovely personality. Despite being a big star, having met her several times, I think I can say that she has no airs and graces, is down to earth, honest as the day is long and has a heart of gold.
8. Her refusal to compromise her principles, despite pressure to do so in a competitive industry.
I could go on, probably forever....
But, she doesn't have the X Factor really, since I can't imagine her working with Simon Cowell!

Some songs that young people especially seem to like are Across the Universe of Time, Summer Rain, Who Painted the Moon Black?, Beat of Your Heart. The orginal version of ATUOT is gorgeous. Pokarekare Ana is good because it's her most famous song, it's sung in an "exotic" language (Maori), and she sings it so beautifully. Hayley wrote Summer Rain, and Let Me Lie, too. That's a beautiful song, too. Are you only allowed to play one song? Hayley does wear dresses a lot in her public appearances, but not always. Her more casual clothes often include either legging pants or tights, and for shoes she either wears long boots or heels. It seems like her outfits often include black, at least the pants or tights usually are. She's worn all kinds of different dresses.
I wish I could've done a Hayley project in school! I didn't know about her until a year after I was done with school, though.
