Great interview, Nicola. Just finished reading *** Is it weird that I'm as excited by the prospect of Hayley singing Dark Waltz live as I am by the prospect of a new album? Coz I kinda am... SO much my favourite song of hers... Sounds like a busy November for me, when it comes to albums. Which is the way I like it!

Well done Nicola, really excellent interview. So the album is targetted for November. The Christmas market. Let's hope they do a better job with the release date and promotion than they did with Winter Magic.
Her comments about her songwriting confirm what I have long suspected, that she writes from her heart and her own experiences. In my opinion, all the best songwriters do that. I'm now looking forward to the new album even more.
Thanks for asking my question about sogwriting, and you even got an answer to the other one about the album release date too!

Brilliant interview, Nicola and Hayley! I can confirm that Hayley was sixteen when she first took part in the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. She sang 'Tonight We'll Light A Candle' in November 2003. I've given the interview five stars. Love, Richard xx

Thanks for the great interview, Nicola! (Also thanks for including my question! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif)I guess the big, emphatic thing that has come from the interview is to expect plenty of original material on Hayley's new album. It now does not seem likely that it will be a classical crossover promoted by a pop cover ie. 'Bring Me to Life' -- which is a trick that I think a few of the CC stars have been doing lately. It seems like the Hayley that is making this album has come a long way from the Hayley who recorded Treasure and Odyssey -- which were albums with plenty of covers. I'll be very interested to see how this all pans out. I do wonder, though, how Hayley would be promoted if she were to move away from the saftey net of the Classical market. I don't know if I've seen signs in her that she's willing to muck in with pop market in the pursuit of the required media attention. That sort of leads me to think that the new material, whilst being original and possibly on the very periphary of the classical market, will still be identifyable with the genre. I'm sort of thinking a bit like 'Awake' by Josh Groban. Basically a pop album, but still can be found floating in both the 'Easy Listening' and 'Classical' sections of the cd store. Hayley said that the album will still sound like her and won't shock fans... but that's not really any indication of anything as Hayley has recorded so many genres! Hayley doesn't really sound like a genre -- she sounds like her! Theories, theories....

Hello Nicola and everyone Congratulations to both you and Hayley for a superb interview - like Richard I have no problem giving it five stars - all very well deserved! I particularly enjoyed the part where Hayley was talking about song writing, I have often wondered how this process works as I'm sure it varies from writer to writer but, as Martindn says now that she's "lived" a little and is writing from her own life and emotions, I'm very excited to hear some more of her work. It was also interesting to read that she is looking to write for other singers and I think this will be a real feather in her cap. Based on what we know she's wriiten already, I think it's only a matter of time before we hear a Hayley song sung by someone else - also a very exciting prospect! Bit disappointed that we will have to wait until November for the new album although I know it will be worth waiting for and although she says it will still be a "Hayley album" that won't shock anyone, she's thrown out a few surprises in the past so I guess this one probably will to. Anyway, a great read Nicola - well done!! Best wishes Grant

Thanks Nicola from me too...just printed it out for Marianne to read tomorrow. And Jillian, there's no getting away from it...you can't categorize Hayley...she has a quite mystical uniqueness....a uniquely unique uniqueness I'm tempted to say. Graeme

Thanks for asking about Josh Groban, Nicola! I was delighted to read about her encounter at the CB, and that he's a fan of her albums! Shows those Josh pessimists that he at least has some good sense, even if they don't like his singing! But if Hayley likes him, he must be good! By not shocking us, I think she just means she'll have a variety of styles again. We would certainly be shocked if she did "rock out", or do hip-hop, or something. If she did all one genre, like pop or country, a lot of people would be disappointed, because normally she has something for everybody (well, not rap fans). If she does pop, I'm sure it'll be mostly her own pop. I'm hoping for some folk-type songs, too, and classical, and maybe a hymn or two. Grant, I only want to hear Hayley singing Hayley songs! I'm a little disappointed that recording has been delayed, and that the album won't be out till November. But I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise, since her last album just came out last November. I'm excited about the international tour, too. I don't suppose that would include any U.S. dates. I don't see why she'd have to rule us out completely, since she does have plenty of fans! I'm just afraid it'll only be a few dates, all on the east coast. That's why I'm kind of counting on a Canada tour, too, because I could see her in British Columbia. Just my luck, though, she'd only do eastern Canada, too. But if she came to California, I could hopefully do that, too.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for everyone's feedback on here and on Twitter. These things are a lot of work so it's good to get a reaction! It does mean a lot to me! The interview has been so popular that the bandwidth of the website has been stretched a bit (there have been some "internal errors" today).
I couldn't really determine what she meant by "international" tour. It was right at the end of the interview, and she sounded enigmatic, so I didn't push it. She did begin to say 'I will be doing a worl---, well no, a pretty international tour next year'. So she stopped herself from saying "world". I'd take that to mean that her tour won't be too thorough. But like I say, I didn't push it.
