Nadia Eide's new single (or new cover). I must admit I liked her lockdown concerts from last year (sadly no longer available on Youtube) but since going on The Voice she seems to have developed more vibrato in her voice. This is particularly noticeable in her high notes at the end of this song. See what you think. Wow, good cover version, I really like this song, they could dump the first 35 seconds of it for radio play, she sure shifts it up a gear at 3:53. I was still buying 7 inch singles when this song first came out (Tears for fears) and it doesn't seem that long ago

Tonight in London we have the Last Night of the Proms. It is also September 11th so quite rightly in the first half of the concert Barber's Adagio will be performed to commemorate the dreadful events of twenty years ago. Barber's music is emotional at any time but especially so today.

Tonight's concert from Classical Crossover Magazine was entitled "Songs of Inspiration." Much needed in these difficult times !

Following on from our discussion about offensive words in Hayley's social media thread, I thought we'd remind ourselves of Elton John's song concerning the return of the pregnant dog. You have to feel sympathy for any dog breeders who want to set up a website with Proboards ! youtu.be/IGo6x_uzG8Y [explicit]

Be that as it may, my favourite EJ album is the one he did with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

The Elton John lyrics mentioned above and in the other thread are potentially controversial, some streaming sites list it as 'explicit'. I therefore modified the relevant post accordingly as it fully displayed the word in its cover image. Please don't do that folks, cheers!

With the passing of Stephen Sondheim I'm listening to this. I was young when I first heard the song and I didn't really get it back then but with the passage of time I've come to realise what an incredibly beautiful song it is, made all the more so by the poignant cor anglais solo.

And since Sondheim wrote the lyrics to "West Side Story" what better excuse to hear this:
Or this:
RIP Stephen Sondheim.

and more impressive, Hayley knows those Latin lyrics off by heart (what a strange saying), no cheat sheet on the floor. Still sends shivers up my spine, the memory of watching her do that from six feet away. Not much chance of that this year.

With Hayley off social media we will just have to make our own entertainment so here is a beautiful song, one of her best I think and a beautiful film to go with it.

Hi All, For Christmas my Sister very kindly gave me a fingerstyle guitar music book by Doug Young, which features some music notation for 25 hymns. The book includes a really lovely arrangement of: “Whispering Hope”, which I have been practising today. I have always loved Hayley’s rendition of: “Whispering Hope”. You can hear Doug Young’s audio recordings for the arrangements included in the book at the following link: www.dougyoungguitar.com/books/FingerstyleHymns/hymns_playlist.htmlAndrew
