A beautiful, inspiring song by Rebecca St. James that's been particularly meaningful to me lately:

It's Lucy Kay's birthday today so this cover is particularly appropriate. It's a question many people ask themselves as the years roll by.

It's very easy to lose track of the singers we used to love..

Hopefully we'll all be singing the words to this song later tonight. Or not !

I have been listening to a lot of Lisa Hannigan and Loah since the Covid-19 lockdowns began. This recording of Make You Feel My Love is just beautiful with Brían Mac Gloinn on guitar.

I've been listening to tonight's concert from Classical Crossover Magazine and it was one of their best. So much to enjoy here from the instrumentalists like 10 year old Ryan playing Rachmaninov or Jonathan and Iris with their own version of a Michel Legrand classic, to the mezzo-sopranos Sophie Clarke singing The Rose and Lola G. with a song she composed for her son. Others to watch out for are Irish Bello Duo and Viva Trio.

It's September and the leaves are starting to fall so it's time to hear the best Autumn song I know.

Thanks Jeff, perfect for the time of year, and for reminding me of how I first heard of Hayley - through an Eva Cassidy fan site (albeit after Eva died). But her live performances, accompanying herself on guitar, are something else altogether - so I raise you "Eva Cassidy LIVE at the Blues Alley jazz supper club in Georgetown, DC, on the 3rd January 1996.". That was the very year she died, it happened very quickly. King Cole, Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Orchestral accompaniment (added years later), whatever ... they all did a great job with this song but for me, this is the definitive performance.

Then of course there is this one. Very poignant if you have lost your other half, as I have.

Yes Dave, the leaves may be falling but my rose is still in bloom. I know Hayley performed this but it works equally well with a vocal ensemble, especially one as good as these guys. This genuinely brought a tear to my eye.

Nadia Eide's new single (or new cover). I must admit I liked her lockdown concerts from last year (sadly no longer available on Youtube) but since going on The Voice she seems to have developed more vibrato in her voice. This is particularly noticeable in her high notes at the end of this song. See what you think.
