Hi Paul, Sorry it has taken me this long to reply to you... Thank you so much for sharing this. I most definitely share your love of Gordon Lightfoot's music. Andrew

Been listening to the fascinating story of one of Britain's most iconic radio stations. It changed music radio forever, and we owe the people who ran it thanks for the proliferation of broadcast music nowadays, and many of the ideas it pioneered live on. It was only on the air for less than 3 years, but it changed everything. The story is rather long though, almost 4 hours! www.mixcloud.com/tunnicliffe1972/the-radio-london-big-l-story-narrated-by-keith-skues/

we had great fun here in Ireland in the 70s and 80s with pirate radio stations springing up all over the place, Marty Whelan started his career in pirate radio in the 70s. He moved to the Official RTE Radio stations when the pirate stations were shut down. It was the duty of our government Department of Post and telegraphs to track down and bring to justice these terrible people (doing the work of the devil) who played music that the young people wanted to hear and to destroy the illegal equipment used to broadcast it.
It was radio, particularly in the USA that effectively created the Music Industry, for many people worldwide, a battery operated radio was their only connection to the world outside their town or valley or island or wherever they lived out most of their lives.
I still love radio, it is blind and cannot see or know who is listening, wonderful concept.

Kenny Everett! Beatles interviews, early record releases, happy days!

An incredibly beautiful tune performed by Hauser. It's The Scientist, by Coldplay. Watch for the swans sailing behind him towards the end. It just seemed to add a peacefulness to everything.

Just leaving this here so I can find it again, wonderful selection to leave running in the background while you are working on something else.
