Hello Martin,
No internet poll, if you like, has any credibility. As I keep repeating time and time again, it's just a bit of fun.
Katherine is 18th in the chart. Martin, I stress, that voting for an artist at all, especially one with a lot of votes, is actually helping them. You'll help Sarah and Rhydian along if you vote, regardless if it is 1 or 5, as I explained before.
Here's some transparency for you:
1. Rhydian 2. Hayley Westenra 3. Sarah Brightman 4. Gari Glaysher 5. Camilla Kerslake 6. Siobhan Owen 7. Yulia 8. Faryl Smith 9. Jackie Evancho 10. Josh Groban
11. Jonathan Ansell 12. Aled Jones 13. All Angels 14. Emma Shapplin 15. Angelis 16. Grace Bawden 17. Keedie 18. Katherine Jenkins 19. Raven (this is the only artist that has an average of 5 out of 5 rating) 20. Giorgia Fumanti
21. Sissel 22. Russell Watson 23. Elizabeth Marvelly 24. Andrea Bocelli 25. Thomas Spencer-Wortley 26. Blake 27. Il Divo 28. Diana Yukawa 29. Opera Babes 30. Bond
31. Charlotte Church 32. Escala 33. Vanessa-Mae 34. Will Martin 35. Natahsa Marsh 36. G4 37. Cantamus 38. Jon Christos 39. Libera 40. Becky Jane Taylor
41. Linda Tolchard 42. Lucia Micarelli 43. Tiffany Desrosiers 44. Paul Potts 45. William Joseph 46. RyanDan 47. David Garrett 48. Myleene Klass 49. Cortes 50. Vittorio Grigolo
51. Amy Nuttall 52. Three Graces 53. Amici Forever 54. Sarena Paton 55. Lauren Waterworth 56. Neal E. Boyd 57. Joseph McManners

Well, I think Nicola is right here... in everything... First of all, it's her website and she decides the rules.
And now, freedom of voting as you wish is essential in any kind of poll. The way the votes allowed to every user are used is a responsability of the one who vote, not of the administrator of the site. Such tactical and mischievous voting is wrong, yes, and sad, but as long as it follows the procedure, it shouldn't be banned. If it was an official chart or if there was any prize to win, I am sure it would be absolutely different. But it isn't, it is just a chart as a feature for the website users, as Nicola says, for fun.
And also, it isn't representative of the real fame or importance of the artists, and it shouldn't be taken as such. It only represents what fanbase is more present and active in the website. There are tons of people who don't know about the site, or who, as me, are not registered users.
Yet, I must say the site is very interesting and useful for people looking for information about the genre, and there is not that much of information in other places, so it has its importance (actually, it is in the first page of Google when searching the terms "Classical Crossover")... So, Nicola, keep the good work.

Hi Nicola,
Yes, don't let my comments be thought of as decrying what you do. You have a great site and as I have said before, it is very helpful to lots of people. In the end, they can listen to the artists and decide for themselves which they like. That is as it should be.
I just don't like this sad tactical voting, which is clearly taking place. I'm not sure that there is anything you can do about it that is better than what you are already doing, but it feels unjust nonetheless.

If people are voting, they are interested. they'll keep coming back to the site because of that, which drives up traffic, drives up interest and (hopefully) brings more attention for the artists. With luck, they'll even get their friend involved. There's no lose scenario in this for Nicola or the artists. I approve

Thanks Elliot. Hayley is still number two this fortnight, but Gari Glaysher's loyal lot are slowly climbing.

Hayley has been included in my latest Classical Crossover Taster video. It's not working for me, but other people can see it, so I assume it's up and running. It has been known for Youtube to take several hours to get through the teething problems of a new video, so here is hoping that when I get up in the morning, I will be able to view my own video! And in perfect picture quality (that takes a few hours too, for some reason!) See if you can see it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPvYNDPm9PI

Yes, yes, another very interesting taster, Nicola, and I think you selected a great song for Hayley. But you made me wonder... so many very poppy songs in this video, is it a general tendence of those artists or just a matter of your selection? Cause, well, Hayley makes pop songs, but when she sings something Classical or Traditional, most of the times she keeps quite a more Classical arrangement (even when not the original one). So, after watching the video, I started wondering if Hayley was more on the classical side of Classical Crossover or we can't say that?

Hello Michal,
That's an interesting observation - most of those artists are poppy, as in, they don't sing arias (though two or three from that selection have done). But I think I naturally steer away from standards as another version of Ave Maria doesn't say much about an artist, whilst their original/unknown tracks do. But since you brought that up, I'll be more mindful in the future to mix more in. My natural prejudice sneaking in there, I think!
I couldn't say for Hayley, she is a bit too varied to put on one side of the fence opposing the other. Hayley has more easy listening/folky arrangements, I think.

No new chart this weekend Nicola? I guess the sabateurs knew that too since Hayley is being allowed to creep up. Or perhaps they have realised that thier sabotage doen't work too well given you system. But climbing slower than perhaps she could have done, given the number of votes, so who knows.
