Hi Karsten
Many thanks for the great photo's - good to see Hayley's beautiful face on HWI where it belongs (well, the photo's anyway) we'll leave her real face where it belongs LOL!
Looking forward to more pics and a detailed report.
Best wishes Grant

Yes, Jillian you are right, it is def. a new dress. Shows how observant I an (not). But then, I'm only a bloke and an old one at that!
Eagerly awaiting more from you Karsten. And I'll even forgive your football team for beating England. Germany were the better side by far after all (although it hurts to say iy), and it would have been wrong if they had lost.
I hope Germany can now go on and win the World Cup.

Hi Karsten
Thanks so much for the wonderful photos. I have to say that Hayley looks radiant and I am looking forward to the rest of your photos and your report. Well done for making it to this event. I had seriously thought about it myself - there was one lonely seat in the middle of the front row still free for many weeks, but in the end, I just couldn't make it. Thanks again Karsten.
Best wishes Mark

Hi all, Firstly... - I'm innocent in that certain matter regarding football. And now to something completely different – here’s my short report. After the usual wake up at 5 am on the Friday before the concert, I caught my train to the airport. My flight to Birmingham was on schedule, but I had to wait for my pre-booked train until noon. Changing at Birmingham New Street I've got the local train from Bristol Parkway roughly at 2 pm and was more than surprised when at Bath Spa crowds of people entered the two coaches, which were obviously not sufficient. Well it was one of the warmer days in the UK and it wasn't really convenient. But suddenly at Castle Cary all the masses alit the train - afterwards I learnt that the very same day the Glastonbury Festival began. The next station at half four was Yeovil Pen Mill and after a walk through the city centre and collecting my ticket at the Octagon Theatre I finally reached my B&B after 5.

The town itself is quite small and my sightseeing trip wasn't very long-lasting. Having the next day in mind I relaxed then to have an early start. On Saturday I had a look for my connections for my way back on Sunday, had my lunch and was then on my way to the venue, where I met Mike and his wife. Together we spent the time in the shadow on this hot day, having a chat with Mr Roger Duddridge, chairman of the Legion's Bristol branch and deputy chairman of the Somerset county RBL, who had organized the whole event. Soon after the ETA Hayley arrived - we had a short chat with her and Tim in the sunshine. Mike got his poster signed and I had a few pictures with me, Hayley was so kind to sign, too. After a few minutes she disappeared for the sound check.

Now it was time to change clothes and roughly one hour before the concert start I was back at the venue, just in time for the photoshoot for the local RBL by the official photographer. The opportunity was too tempting and so I took part in – hopefully it wasn’t too distracting. There was one shooting inside

It was now 7 pm, we took our seats in the front row (which BTW isn’t the best choice at the Octagon because the stage is quite high) and half an hour later the show started. There was a program available and I took the songlist from it.
FIRST PART
Ruslan and Ludmila (Glinka) (New Bristol Sinfonia, conducted by Eiron Bailey)
Parade of the Standards Exhortation
Paul Salvage - compare for the evening with a few 'lighter' songs (‘Suspicious mind’, ‘Save the Last Dance’, …)
Festive Overture (Shostakovich) (New Bristol Sinfonia) Carmen Suite No. 1 (Bizet) (New Bristol Sinfonia) Finlandia (Sibelius) (New Bristol Sinfonia)
O Sole Mio (Eduardo Di Capua) (Tim Pitman) La Donna E Mobile (Verdi) (Tim Pitman) E Lucevan Le Stelle (Puccini) (Tim Pitman) Panis Angelicus (Franck) (Tim Pitman) Nessum Dorma (Puccini) (Tim Pitman)
INTERVAL
The performances were all excellent, as far as I can judge it, in particular Tim Pitman was a new discovery for me.

During the first half I had had a look for a free seat, and fortunately for me the concert wasn’t sold out, so I took a seat in row K. SECOND PART After the usual introducing words from Paul Salvage at 9 pm sharp Hayley came from left, and was accompanied usually by Tim and the Orchestra, only Both Sides Now by Tim alone. Prayer
