I suppose it makes sense to start a discussion about this (apparently new) site that sells a limited number of artist's music including Hayley Westenra, after the discussion we had on another thread last night about them. At the moment all of Hayley's CDs are being sold as signed-I have ordered HSJS2 from them alongside Raven's album and both have been received signed as promised and in good condition. www.earthquakeltd.com/classical.htm

Hi Leila, Not realising that you had started this thread I suggested to Grant that he made enquiries with Hayley the next time he meets her about her involvement with this site. The company has a uk postcode which suggests it is safer when buying imports and also it appears cheaper than some other sources for imports.Hayley could be their direct supplier!! .

Hello Leala, thanks for mentioning this, it could prove to be a useful and (for UK imports) a cost effective source of Hayley albums. In at least some cases apparently, signed copies too.
Although there is no "About Us" (or even terms and conditions) section on the website yet, some googling reveals that the website was first registered earlier this year and the owners Earthquake (Distribution) Ltd. is a Company that itself was first registered in England on 14 May 2009. The "registered address" (which may not be its trading address) is in the general West London area but I cannot find the names of the main Company officials. There seems to be a connection of some kind with Bedlam Management or Artists Agency and/or Steve Abbott himself, you can see that from the artists whose albums are currently sold but I cannot yet say if he is among the company officials.
No doubt we will find out more in due course but it does remind me of a conversation I had with Steve Abbott just before HSJS 1 was due to be released. I said we were all going to have to import it from Japan as with some others and he replied that he would look at ways of making it available in the UK at prices lower than the high prices usually charged by the main online retailers for imports. Since then, I have heard nothing more but my guess is that he (or someone he is associated with) may have developed the idea he had back then.
I will certainly check their prices and availability for albums they list, before deciding whether or not to import in future; those that are personally signed by Hayley are of course a good selling point. Some of the track listings do look a bit odd though, and it is not always clear exactly which Country's release they have listed so anyone thinking of ordering one should take care to check they will be getting what they expect.
This is inevitably mostly speculation at the moment but I am sure that things will become clearer in due course.

That thought had crossed my mind too Perhaps it wouldn't be ethical for Steve to make a big thing of this if, in fact, he does prove to be involved, as it could/would be seen as competing with the major record companies. In Hayley's case, anyway. Also we haven't seen much of Steve for him to tell us about it although he knows us pretty well and knows how resourceful we are to sniff these things out for ourselves! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant

Yes, Dave, I too had a vague memory of Steve saying something like that at the time HSJS2 was released. He has it seems gone out and done it and good on him. Those Japanese albums deserve to be heard. And for the albums to be signed oo.. a bonus. I am sure there id not problem with buying from these people if you don't already have the albums.
I suspect that the possibility to import and market the Japanese version of Winter Magic two months before the UK release date might have been a step too far though!

I suspected that the delay may be due to lack of signed copies and that has been confirmed. I think you have also confirmed that there is a direct link between Earthquake and Hayley and I don't think we should expect more information than that. Best wishes Grant

Earthquake is advertised on The Winter Tour programmer for buying copies of 'Winter Magic' . That would seem to confirm that it has 'official' blessing.
Best Wishes,
Graham
