Looking back wished i had not known about the concerts that didn't happen so i had nothing to look forward too and get disappointed about. Thanks for showing some interest in this thread Libby Yes, I would be devastated if that happened with a prospective US concert/tour, too. I guess now that I think about it, it's been longer since Hayley's last Kiwi concert than it has been since her last U.S. performance! Of course, she only sang one song here, but still, that seems pretty pathetic, since she is one of NZ's biggest stars (isn't she?) I'm interested in any thread about Hayley.

She's NZ's biggest star, Libby, but I think it would take a lot for her to make it that big in the US because the competition is way way bigger. I think that's why Celtic Woman was a good idea, because it was a route for her to get an American audience.

H Day minus 2 (2 days until Hayley Concert)
On Wednesday morning I am driving to Picton at the top of the South Island to catch the ferry the next day. I will stop at Kaikoura for lunch. Kaikoura is the home of the whales and crayfish (lobsters). Hopefully a bit of crayfish for lunch would be nice lol. In Picton I am staying in my tent at a camping ground. The forecast for the next few days is for some rain each day so might be wet at the concert (fingers crossed it will stop by the time of the concert). Will report later how my day went.

Hey concert goers!
Hope the weather is kind to you all on Friday - and that you all have a great time at Hayley's concert.
Looking forward to pictures and reports and if you get to chat to Hayley you can tell her that most of the snow has gone and that it should be a few degrees warmer for when she returns to the UK at the end of the month.
Best wishes Grant

Hey concert goers! if you get to chat to Hayley you can tell her that most of the snow has gone and that it should be a few degrees warmer for when she returns to the UK at the end of the month You have more confidence in tha forcast than I have Grant. That cold air is still around you know, and only this morning a MAXIMUM temperature of -4C was forecast for next Monday on one midlands weather site.... But I digress, I hope you all have a great time with Hayley on Friday. Wish I could be with you. I'm sure it will be special, I think her NZ shows always are. Hayley just gets better and better, and I'm sure you will be blown away by the change since the last time she performed there, nearly two years ago wasn't it? Martin D

Hi to all going to this concert.
First i want to say, that i'm very happy for all of you, that you will have your New Zealand concert. What is better , than seeing your NZ superstar, giving a concert, in her own country !!! You deserve this !! Enjoy!!

Perhaps we in America will never be able to enjoy Hayley on any regular basis. What a pity. As I have said many times with the right promotion and perhaps a little luck things could be different. If only David Foster could see Hayley. He brought Katherine Jenkins to the U S for a great special on American T V. Larry

Hi Larry, I think the only way that Hayley could become famous in the US is through somebody like Simon Cowel or the like. It almost needs somebody famous to bring her to fame there. Then again, I don't think Hayley tackles the US market the way she tackles the UK market, because the UK market is just more guaranteed for her. Americans can be unpredictable beings! (yes we can ) But that still doesn't mean that she can't be a huge star there is she spent enough time there touring. Anyway, back on topic, enjoy your time, guys! Dori

I think that's why Celtic Woman was a good idea, because it was a route for her to get an American audience. I don't expect her to be as famous here as she is in NZ, and that wasn't what I was saying. But yes, I agree that being in Celtic Woman has helped her immensely in America. Larry, I've thought of David Foster before, but I'm not sure he's the right one. He seems to go for the singers with the really big, pop ballad voices, and I'm not sure if he'd be interested in her style. And whatever he's doing for Katherine Jenkins seems to be changing her as an artist, and I think Hayley is capable of figuring out which direction she wants to go with her music on her own. You never know, though. I definitely don't think Simon Cowell would be the right one. And this is getting way off-topic. My point before was just that it seems sad that it's been longer since Hayley's last concert in NZ than her last performance in the U.S. That's all.

H Day Minus 2I am now safely in Picton and so far it is fine but has been cloudy at times. Before I arrived at Kaikoura for lunch I spotted 2 boats viewing a pod of dolphins. They were very playful with some jumping out of the water as you can see in the photo below. I had lunch at a roadside barbecue type diner. I had crayfish fritter and Green Mussels, hmmmmm yummy. I then went to the end of the peninsular to see the seal colony. The tide was out so I could walk over a large flat rocky area. There were some seals sleeping there. Photo of Picton. Tomorrow I have to get up early to catch the 8am ferry to Wellington. Half the cost of this trip is to get my car across 20 miles of the Cook Strait ( about $180 each way). But I suppose you would have the same problem in crossing the English Channel.
