Hi everyone,
Camilla has started doing 'Camilla Kerslake Unplugged' on youtube, she has done Over the Rainbow- Eva Cassidy version and Stay- Hurts (I've been waiting for this one for ages- I hope its on her next album). I Think these videos show how good her voice is- its just her and a guitar and on her next album I think there will be songs written by Camilla- sounds good to me!

Camilla Kerslake has (and Blake, with the Breast Cancer Choir have) recorded You Raise Me Up, it's released on itunes on 13 October: itunes.apple.com/gb/album/you-raise-me-up-feat.-sing/id719550611Listening to the samples it sounds a very good recording- and it's for a good cause I wish it wasn't just on itunes though as I don't have any devices to listen to it on apart from my computer Sing

Hi Sing
I love this version of You Raise Me Up, Camilla does an amazing vocalise towards the end which really shows her power, I want to hear more like this on her next album.

Hi Susie Me too, it's definitely one of my favourite arrangements of the song, I hope it's included on Camilla's next album and she continues to sing in the same way as she does for this song.

Quoted from the Laura Wright thread by DaveI'm glad I'm not the only one Joe... Martin D No Martin, you're not the only one. There are at least four of us ! IMHO Laura will regret this in time and indeed may already be a laughing stock in classical circles, the butt of many jokes you could say ! Her career certainly seems to have hit a bum note right now ! Whenever I look at singers other than Hayley I always seem to end up disappointed. Camilla is currently appearing in an opera called "Life from Light." Wikipedia says: "The work also features some graphic depictions of sex....." Well, if it's all the same to you Ms Wright and Ms Kerslake I'll give your shows a miss. I'm having a quiet night in ! Yes, I've gone off Camilla too! There are a few others I like though, like Siobhan and Annelies. But it's true, none of them is up there with Hayley IMO. Martin D

This is probably the wrong thread, but since Jeff brought it up I just want to say Life From Light is not what the press are making it out to be, it has one song called 'sexual intercourse' and the lyrics to this are from Wikipedia, but that is it. The rest is a collection of songs by Toni Casells who is a very talented composer and he crosses so many genres and his work is experimental, but he does not need to rely on gimmicks or anything like that as he is so talented, it's just the press latching on to the 'sex' thing which is such a small part and not even that important to his work

Well Susie, I don't see why sex should be any part of it, however small. The place for that is surely the bedroom and not the stage but each to his own, or her own ! I'm obviously old fashioned or just out of touch !

No Jeff. Some of us prefer our musicians to make music. The music, if it is any good, should be able to stand alone.

I agree Martin that good music should stand alone and I think Toni Castells is good enough to do that, which is why it annoys me that Life From Light is being portrayed the way it is, they have to focus on the 'sex' part to sell it to the public and get them interested which is unfortunate, but if you look at pop music it is the same story. Seriously though listen to some of his songs, especially Annabel Lee, Promised Land and Life Is Not Long Enough and his version of O Euchari In Leta Via- he really is a good composer.

There was a certain beauty in radio broadcasts, no visuals, just the music and it had to stand on it's own merit

Well Hayley is obviously a fan of Toni Castells since she recommends her in her latest tweet ! (Sorry, I don't know how to quote it !)

I saw that tweet Jeff, I'm glad Hayley is recommending Life From Light. I think a collaboration between Hayley and Toni Castells would be amazing!

Camilla will be touring with Blake in the Autumn. Details here:
Prices are very reasonable. I got a front seat at Wimborne for £20. It costs twice that to see Lucy Kay (that's Simon Cowell for you !) and I am yet to be convinced that Lucy is twice as good as Camilla !
