Hi Larry,
Yes, I agree! In a world without Hayley, Camilla would be one of the best. But Hayley has set a new standard. Camilla is still enjoyable to listen to though, and I wish her well.

My admiration for her has somewhat cooled after seeing her sing live three times, and three times she was no where near the standard she set in the recording studio - she doesn't reach the same bell like perfection, which tells me the studio made that sound for her, and she is often out of tune. I still put it down to inexperience and nerves, but in order for an artist to get the top respect for me, they have to be pretty much flawless all the time. That's their job. I love going to a concert and not having to worry about the notes slipping - hence I love Hayley concerts. At the moment, I'm not sure I would want to pay to see Camilla, she hasn't proved to be good enough. I remember seeing Katherine live and always being at the edge of my seat because she wasn't incredibly good - I did not enjoy that concert (I think she has improved immensely now).

Yes, you can't relax and enjoy the concert if you're worried about the performer being nervous. I have mixed feelings about seeing her live now as well. We'll see how she does when singing the National Anthem in front of 80,000+ people at the Carling Cup Final tomorrow.

Well, I have to say I could hardly hear her at Wembley. Seems to lack both power and control, although she does have a spectacular vocal range. I still have hopes that it can be put down to inexperience though.

I've been listening very carefully to her album and in particular to "How can I keep from singing ?". For some reason this song never sounds the same live as on CD and I've come to the conclusion that the studio has over-dubbed her voice on the high notes. This gives her voice greater emphasis on CD but does explain why her live performances can sometimes sound rather different. As I said before, I await her first gig in my area with interest !

Allowing for the arena that would imply bad set-up not picked up at rehearsal. Failure of her management to do an auditorium check? Peter S.

Let's hope she does better on Songs of Praise tomorrow. When Hayley was last on the show she sung "Adide with me" and mimed it ! Very good mind you, but some people might feel it's cheating really ! Still, they all do it.

ACtually Jeff, Hayley has been on SOP since that! In Jan 2009 she was shown singing "The Heart Worships" in Truro Cathedral, and she mimed that too!
It will be interesting to see what Camilla does, remembering she said she would never mime!

Doesn't everyone mime on SOP?

Well, as far as we can see in the video, in 2008 when she sang Whisperi8ng hope, Hayley holds a microphone, and that seems to point that she wasn't miming then. Can anyone confirm that?

Doesn't everyone mime on SOP? Yes you are right Nicola, everyone who appears on SOP has to mine. They do not have a choice in the matter. Rhydian appeared on SOP and had to mime, which is NOT something he would choose to do and I think that must be the only time he wasn't allowed to sing live.

So Camilla has changed her mind? I suppose she had no choice if she wanted to do the show. Pity, she seemed to be standing on principle when she originally said that.

Once again, you sure that Whispering hope is miming?

Michal I have never seen the video to this, and I never watch SOP, BUT the presence of the mic has no bearing whether it's being mimed or not. Performers still use a mic, just to make it seem more authentic.
