Hi Graeme, You don't have the HD version of the file there, it's only the HQ version at 1mbps and 864x480. The YT HD version is 2mbps and 1280 x 720, I uploaded my original to YT at 5mbps and will make it available at some point but it's too late tonight. Anyway, we need the hits on YT so even if you download it folks, please please please continue to watch it on YT! The more hits we get, the higher Hayley will get in the YT search rankings, which is what it's all about. This is IMO one of the best performances Hayley has ever done, anywhere and one of the most spectacular - it needs to be seen - by everyone!!! Meanwhile, Here is a fantastic sequence of photos made possible by some superb camera work by the BBC. It shows the before, during and after shots as they did a 3 second fade from Hayley singing, to their old video of Dame Vera singing. This is one of the most brilliant camera fades that I have ever seen, anywhere. Fabulous work there, hats off to the BBC. I will post some more screen captures taken from the original BBC HD feed, I think you will like them. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, Thanks for those fade out pictures! I noticed that on the video, but they look so striking when captured in such beautiful clarity. Great screen caps. Jillian. I await your detailed fashion commentary !!! Isn't she just too gorgeous. Graeme Hi Graeme, I first posted in the 'Fashion' thread, but I'll paste it over here. Okay, had to make this post! I absolutely ADORE what Hayley wore during her performance at the Albert Hall! I'd often thought Hayley would look nice in that sort of dress -- and I was right. I particularly enjoyed the amount of thought that went into it -- I think she's gone for a 1940's theme and she pulled it off right from the hair, to the dress and to the shoes. Hayley certainly looks like a performer from an era long gone -- quite nostalgic, I think! I thought Hayley looked incredible -- just so glamorous, but at the same time she looked so effortless. Hayley has a great sillouette and the dress showed that off perfectly. I don't think that she could have chosen a more fitting outfit. It even looks a bit like the one Dame Vera Lynn is wearing in the video. I always maintain that the best items of clothing are timeless.

OK, two more photos before I turn in. More later tomorrow. The wider scene at Royal Albert Hall as Hayley beckons towards Dame Vera up in the balconyA young Dame Vera can be seen on the big screens. Next, Dame Vera Lynn stands to acknowledge Hayley's "invitation" and the thunderous applauseHayley applauds Dame Vera with the rest of the audience(including The Queen, who came the closest to smiling broadly that I've ever seen and certainly had smiling eyes!) Thanks for your comments, screen caps and download, Jillian and Graeme. Cheers and goodnight! Dave

Hayley hardly sang anything! The song is a little low for her, too. It was great, and she looked wonderful, but after the way you all raved about it, I found myself a tiny bit disappointed.

Hayley hardly sang anything! The song is a little low for her, too. It was great, and she looked wonderful, but after the way you all raved about it, I found myself a tiny bit disappointed. Hi Libby, Let me try to explain. First, the song was all Hayley's for the first two minutes, and she could clearly be heard singing the final notes in duet with Dame Vera. In fact, Hayley finished the song, which only lasts 3m 35s so that's well over half. Fron Male Voice choir were involved because they are very popular in the UK and they are releasing a Christmas CD of this song (charity single I think) blended with Dame Vera's voice, which has cleverly been extracted on its own from her original recording. That is why BBC were able to show Dame Vera singing in duet with Hayley. The military band were also featured, for obvious reasons given the type of event. This song is **very special** in the UK, like Dame Vera Lynn herself. The same may also be true of some Commonwealth countries such as Canada, Aus and NZ. It will have brought tears to the eyes of the older viewers in those Countries, including The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and of course 92 years old Dame Vera herself. The Fron Male Voice Choir are made up entirely of old men, some will have fought in World War 2 and it will have been a very special moment for them too, in this, the 70th anniversary year of the start of World War 2. The decision to include footage and audio of the young Dame Vera herself, at about the same age as Hayley, was ***absolute genius*** and for all who know the full background, in the Countries I mentioned, it made this performance extra-special. Seeing and hearing the young Dame Vera appear and sing with Hayley like that was a wonderful surprise. For me, it is one of Hayley's most important and special performances ever, I will never forget it. But you may need to know about the history of it, and perhaps like me to have parents who took part in it, World War 2... or who like me had to put up with many years of food rationing as a child after the War. As far as the older generation is concerned, it's possible there is no greater honour for a UK or Commonwealth singer than to be invited to do tonight what Hayley did. I hope this helps to explain the reaction that you have seen so far from some UK and Commonwealth members, me included. It exceeded my highest expectations. Dave

Hi Dave, Vera Lynn CDs are all over the place in Australia at the moment. I actually bought one for $2.50 which I thought was a bit of a bargain -- it probably doesn't have all the new digital remastering that the $27 one has -- but all the songs are on there. I actually really like the arrangement used last night -- it's a bit more jaunty than the original. Dame Vera does have a deeper voice than Hayley, but I think Hayley managed the song very well. 'We'll Meet Again' isn't the most complicated of songs, it's really more about the message/emotions/memories surrounding it.

Libby, at first I also felt the song was in too low a key for Hayley to sound her best, but when I cranked my speakers just enough her voice sounded noticeably richer in those lowest notes. My guess is that her microphone system wasn't adjusted right for that range -- maybe the person at the controls anticipated her as a soprano and based the settings on that.

Thanks for the video, Dave! It was a truly amazing performance by Hayley, and she looked stunning in that dress. Her hair was beautiful too. Best Wishes, Richard

Thanks Dave for the video which again brought a tear to my eye. Not only has the video been posted for us on HWI to enjoy again (and again), I am sure that Hayley's family and friends back in NZ will be truly grateful. At the time I didn't fully appreciate that Dame Vera was waving back to Hayley at the end so another plus for technology! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif There is obviously a wonderful mutual respect and admiration between Hayley and Dame Vera. Thanks Martin

I thought the performance was great-it is a shame her lower notes weren't captured that well by the microphones, possibly because her voice is slightly quieter in its lower range or just because of the frequency-I love the richness in her voice now so it would have been nice to hear more of it. It looks great in HD! (I don't have a TV so couldn't watch it live)
