Barnes & Noble has still not contacted me to say my copy has arrived. If it doesn't come soon, I might just forget it and order it.

I must say the best songs on this album are those Hayley wrote herself. Personally I would like to have seen more of that and perhaps the Christmas songs could have been put on a bonus disc ? However Hayley said she's been wanting to make a festive album for a long time (Why wait 6 years, were Decca reluctant ?) so you have to respect that. As for the carols themselves, her performance of "Veni Veni Emmanuel" and The Coventry Carol are sublime and must sound stunning in a cathedral setting. Of course it wouldn't be a Hayley album without a cover of a Joni Mitchell song, the excellent "River." I never really rated Ronan Keating before but he is a revelation both as a songwriter and a performer of a quite poignant duet which is very touching but means the album ends on a rather sad note, somewhat out of keeping with the album's generally joyous theme as a whole. The duet's inclusion fully justifies the decision to delay the album's release. My one reservation about "Winter Magic" is that it will have a shelf-life of only a few weeks. Come January people will still be listening to Faryl's "Wonderland" (only 2 out of 13 tracks are carols) whereas one suspacts in a lot of homes "Winter Magic" will be back on the shelf collecting dust for another 11 months. Mind you, you could say that about Handel's Messiah ! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Just for reference this sticker was on the front of my cd from Amazon. I have posted it for another reason too. I gather if Photobucket Accounts are not updated or in use they are being taken offline

I went to a Barnes and Noble near my house today, and found two copies of Winter Magic prominently displayed with some other new releases near the checkout counters. I asked one of the employees if they could play it in the store, and she said that, unfortunately, the store didn't have a cd player, and they just played a radio station. I told her that it was a really good album, and she said that she'd look into it later So, at least some stores in the U.S. have it!

Much as I love "River" you have to wonder about the grammar: "I wish I had a river I could skate away on." Doesn't our Hayls know a preposition is a bad word to end a sentence with ?! I think this song would make a great encore with Hayley sat at the piano (minus shoes probably!) just like "Sonny."

There is a river on which Hayley can skate away and she did just that in Ottawa, Ontario. Can't find the pics, but we have photographic evidence on this site to prove it.

I've seen my first advert of WM today, on page 20 in the Daily Mail there is an HMV advert with a picture of it, it's also advertising other albums like Katherine Jenkins, Aled Jones and Faryl Smith, it's advertised at £10.99 but when my mum phoned up my local HMV in Reading today they said it was £16.99! and they only had one copy listed on the computer...My mum's not sure how to order it so I'll try my hardest to make it my mission to get my hands on it tomorrow when i go Christmas shopping with friends, fingers crossed I get it and also fingers crossed I don't pick up another cold- i'm still getting over the one i've just had, and an ear infection ...but my friends have said they'll trample on and push me through the crowds to the classical music section, which is where we think it will be. I really hope they have more than one though! and they put them in a suitable place, although I doubt it, all her other albums are in the corner of the shop, and they are only usually 2 of each, all placed behind Katherine Jenkins' albums- to which they have heaps of! Anyway I'm so happy I've found some mention of it!! Sing
