Because Faryl looked young and pretty. That changes the expectation (sadly). Paul and Susan were the opposite. People always react to surprise. Andrew Johnston got a big reaction because I think it was expected he be good, but his treble vocal wasn't expected. Connie Talbot also had a quiet audience. The judges tend to have an idea whether they are good or not beforehand. They have a page of notes infront of them for every auditionee. People think the first rounds on TV are the first rounds, but they tend to be second or third rounds. Producers hear them first and decide if they are put in front of Simon, etc. Producers play games though. They don't always let them know.

I see, I see... xD, thanks for the explanation, Nicola!
Yet, going back to Jackie, I still think they were a little too noisy for me, xD.

She is really talented 10 years old girl! I am listening her songs over and over again. At semi finals she surprised even more. By the way, I have found that she already have a fansite. Feel free join, it is not active jet but hopefully it going to grow really fast, because Jackie deserves to win on final. Almost forget to mentions fansite url: jackieevanchos.org/

I don't like how someone on that forum has taken my article, posted it, and not given credit or reference.
I HATE it when people do that. I normally pursue it, but I haven't the energy.

This is internet, so it is almost impossible to control it! Just visit the forum and post your link in response or ask moderator to edit thread

You SHOULD be upset with that! You won't see that kind of thing happening at Jackie's new forum here ( jackiefans.proboards.com ), where her long-time fans from her original forum have started to gather. There will be all kinds of "Jackie fan" pages springing up from all these new AGT fans, but this is (right now) a core group of fans who have been with Jackie for a long time. The party won't start there until you join, so we're waiting patiently :je

I noticed noise, but what I noticed most was the background vocals near the end, and wondered why they thought they needed it. But yes, now that I think about it, there was a lot of cheering. I thought her dress was very pretty, too. And of course, she made it into the top 10.

Hi Nicola, I agree with 1fan above, when you recover your energy you should pursue it (but obviously available time may come into it). I too dislike the internet parasites with a vengeance - posting other people's work as if it's their own and without permission. I hope you can find the time to have this put right via the "other forum" moderators (which in this case could be its total removal and perhaps its replacement with a link to your original?). Some people genuinely don't understand the "rules" about these things but all too many don't care, and just do it anyway. Dave

...Well, her errant note at the end could help prove to the skeptics out there that her voice really is real! Either that, or they'll think she was off on her lip-syncing. Or maybe someone deliberately injected Auto-Tune at the end in an attempt to make her sound less than perfect which would mollify the cynics. My sincere guess is that it was because of the loud cheering that she went off her pitch since she probably couldn't hear herself sing by that point.

Cat Deely is right. Our audience is very reserved. Sarah Brightman doesn't like coming here because we are "frosty" at her concerts, lol. We just don't scream or whistle that much (there's always one or two...) I remember going to see Canadian Tenors in London a month or two back (where Hayley was a guest) and the audience were all Canadians. I thought I was among crazy people! They were mad with applause, noise and so on. I'm used to clapping politely in my seat. Not all crossover artists cover the same rubbish. Just the non-creative ones. Hey Nic, You Brits need to lighten up. We Yanks just like to let it all hang out when we like someone. And Grant is the exception. I've sat by him at a few Hayley concerts and he likes to hoot and whoop it up. We also like to whistle at deafening decibel levels to show our appreciation. Larry

I've been critical of my countries taste in music on this forum many times. I've just heard Jackie Evancho for the first time on you tube and I was delighted to see that we do have the talent; but unfortunately it's not a marketable commodity here in the U S. But at least we know that although our tastes may be bad we do have talented individuals.

We also have individuals who do not have bad taste.

(Also, for everyone, normally we don't allow new members to "advertise" their forums. We would like members of this forum to have a few dozen posts and a strong support of Hayley first ) Back to Jackie's performance! I also didn't like her choice of song...many Americans are probably unfamiliar with it. Unless they are not "a cultural ignoramus" as Piers called Howie Jackie was wow wow wonderful! I am glad Jackie is in the top ten! Song suggestions for the next round - Ave Maria, Amazing Grace, You'll Never Walk Alone Joe

No problem, Joe.....feel free to pull my mention of Jackie's forum. I have it set to require signups just to keep a gazillion new "AGT fans" from swamping it until it gets better established. I mentioned the forum because nicola was a member of the original forum, and I wanted her to know that a new one had been set up and would never post things from other sites without due credit. I've been probably more casual a Hayley fan than many here, but a fan nonetheless, and would love to hear she and Jackie together some time!
