Right, now that the Winter Magic tour is over and it won't spoil anyone's enjoyment, I can start uploading my videos. The first one, and perhaps the only one of those I took at Peterborough that will ever see the light of day, is this one. Love Came Down at Christmas was the encore, and I think this is the only video of Hayley singing this song that is available on the internet. That's why I posted it despite my photograpic problems.
I was shooting through about 5 rows of people in front of me, and the lighting was candlelight, so conditions for photogrpahy were not ideal. But despite that, I love Hayley's performance of this song. As usual the problems with by videos of Hayley are due to my photography, never Hayley's performance. She just seems to nail every song, every time.
Hundreds turn out for opening night of Hayley Westenra Winter Magic Tour.

Almost 800 people flocked to the Cathedral on Monday November 23rd, to enjoy a special performance by talented New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra, as she opened her ‘Winter Magic’ UK Tour right here at Peterborough Cathedral.
Supported by a phenomenal female string quartet, Raven, Hayley treated her audience to a diverse range of music set to the beautiful backdrop of this magnicient Cathedral Church.
With favourites ranging from the popular Christmas Carol ‘Silent Night’, to Joni Mitchell’s ‘River’, which Hayley played herself on piano - despite her nerves and high heels - it was a magical evening as the name of the tour would imply and many guests were also offered the opporuntiy to meet her either before or after the concert.
Hayley was also joined on stage by the Peterborough Youth Singers, led by former Cathedral Organist, Ben Horden and Hayley even shunned the microphone and came out into the Nave for one joint piece to ‘test out the acoustics in this place’, which was perhaps one of the major highlights of the show.
Hayley was extremely gracious about the Cathedral and being given the opportunity to perfom here and even reminded her audience that they are ‘very lucky to have such a beautiful building like this hidden in the heart of the city for all to enjoy.’
Hayley’s Winter Magic CD is now available in most music stores and her tour is continuing around the country, finishing at The Barbican in London on December 21st.
Members of the choir had an unforgetable experience when they joined Hayley Westenra to open her Winter Magic Christmas Tour at Peterborough Cathedral. Their rendition of ‘The Coventry Carol’ received very good reviews from Hayley’s fans on their forums. The choir all thought that Hayley was wonderful and all got a personally signed program from her.
And to think, I deliberately avoided videoing that performance, as there are alway issues with photographing children. It was unique of course, the only time Hayley performed with the Peterborough Young Singers, and a rare occasion when Hayley sang without a microphone.
That was a very special performance! Unforgettable! Thank you Peterborough Young Singers, and of course thank you Hayley.
