Hi Martin, after I wrote my last post I decided to try the same scanner on a different computer.
the result on an older Dell was quite surprising, The software is SilverFast
The Dell is an Intel Core i7-7500 7th generation 2.7GHz with 16GB of RAM One 35mm negative in 4:30 seconds The Toshiba an Intel Core i7-8850 8th generation 1.8GHz with 16GB of RAM One 35mm negative in 8:42 seconds
I assumed the 8th generation would perform better, but maybe the difference is in the processor speeds. the difference between the 1.8GHz and the 2.7GHz. But the time difference is much more than I expected.
Good luck Martin and Dave with your respective projects.

I wish you luck, you may learn something on the first roll that will let you save the other fourteen.
Yes I agree some of the people who developed film in the past were often very careless or downright reckless with the negatives, funny you mention it, I remember Grant telling me years ago that he got his film developed with a company in Kerry in Ireland because he trusted them.

So what wildly unlikely happening will we experience in 2021 (I think 2020 is a write off). Plague of locusts, massive volcanic eruptions, asteroid striking the earth, new Hayley album? Only time will tell.

The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one.

The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one. ... But all the other things Martian, I mean Martin, mentioned have a better likelihood, of course. In my neck of the woods, I think another eruption from Mt. St. Helens is more likely than one from Mt. Rainier, which hasn't erupted in 126 years. It's just had way more volcanic activity there in the last 40+ years in general. Oh, for anyone who didn't know, Mt. St. Helens is about to "celebrate" it's 40 year anniversary of it's big eruption... although that isn't the last time it erupted! After the major eruption in 1980, it had several more small ones through 1986, which created a lava dome. It also had another smaller eruption in July 2008 (I don't even remember it, though! LOL). Regarding Mt. Rainier, however, a google search pulled up this: Is Mount Rainier going to erupt? The volcano is behaving about as it has over the last half-million years, so all evidence suggests that Mount Rainier will continue to erupt, grow, and collapse. That really narrows it down!! Mt. Hood in Oregon (which is fairly close to Mt. St. Helens) erupted more recently than Rainier, in 1907. Mt. Adams hasn't erupted since 550 BC!! But anyway, it's not like these eruptions come with no warning whatsoever. They are usually preceded by a lot of seismic activity at the mountains themselves that warn of imminent danger. Here's what happened leading up to the big eruption: We can gauge the likelihood of volcanoes and asteroids, because there is scientific data out there. There is no data on Hayley's album, so we haven't the slightest clue on that.

Yes, I think Hayley's next album is a bit like Mount Rainier. We keep seeing signs that it might happen, but it never does!

Yes, except the difference between them is that, while we all very much want Hayley's album, we don't ever want Mt. Rainier to erupt! It would ruin Seattle's skyline... possibly literally, but at the very least, it would take away the beautiful view we currently have from Seattle (it can be seen all over, even very distantly from Oregon). Of course, I have never seen Mt. St. Helens before it was destroyed, except in pictures. Here are some now; I decided to add the eruption itself and comparison photos, as well (sorry if some are too big, I never remember how to re-size): Mt. St. Helens with Mt. Rainier in the not too far distance: But now we have beautiful scenes like these... I have photos of this spot, myself (but this isn't mine):

I wonder if Hayley will be doing a concert next year. Hello! It has been two and a half years since Hayley’s last public concert, so I think it one is long overdue! Hayley discussion in this thread is off-topic actually Thanks Libby for the pics! I was only seven when Mt. St. Helens erupted, but I do remember my teacher talking about it.

Me too, I remember it well, I was in my 30s! I was concerned at first that the eruption might cause a kind of nuclear winter, as has happened in past millennia! Great photos Libby, don't get too close if you are hoping to get some photos yourself of the next one!

Who knows, if I do get pictures, and I survive, I can sell them to the Smithsonian. 😂 There are some photos that a college student took right before, and as, he sped away in his truck, which the Smithsonian Institute shows. They even made up a little video with an actor portraying the student’s experience. Apparently he was camping there at the time. His photos were of the initial explosion, I think.

In about 2011 or 2012, Hayley was centre stage at the UK's Festival of Remembrance in the Albert Hall in London singing "We'll Meet Again" with the famous wartime film of Vera Lynn singing it on a big screen and the real life Vera in the audience (she's still with us aged 103!).
Hayley sang beautifully and it was very moving.
For today's 75th anniversary of VE day celebrations, it was sung again, and Katherine Jenkins got the job of leading numerous groups of singers.
Yes, I know we're all locked down, but KJ was performing at the front of Buckingham palace. She doesn't live there.
What a pity Hayley didn't do it.

Hello I will have to check, but I think the year was 2009. Also, this is the chat thread...and as I said a few posts above, Hayley is actually off-topic in this thread!
