HI, here are some pictures i took, the day after the concert in Cork. We had enough time left, before going back to the Netherlands, to visit the pittoresk harbourtown Kinsale...about 25 kilometers away from Cork. I was very surprised ,that the weather changed into what you see on the pictures. We spend a couple of hours here, before going back to Cork Airport. Joyce

Hi everyone, As everyone in Europe is talking about Santa flying by this evening, I thought I'd try to take a photo of him over the Isle of Wight and Solent (from the mainland). I didn't manage to get all 5 minutes of h[ is] s fly-by but I did grab 15 seconds of it, it's the short diagonal line, he's heading from top to bottom/right to left! The bright star on the extreme right is the new crescent moon and the towns visible at the bottom from left to right are: Lee-on-the Solent Hampshire, Ryde Isle of Wight and Cowes Isle of Wight under the moon. Note to self: Must do better next time, longer exposure and track needed!PS Santa may have hitched a tow from the ISS! Cheers, Dave

Great Photo. It's amazing how much light Rudolf's nose gives off.

Hi Dave!
I do recall an article on the BBC about a fly-over of the International Space Station across Britain today! Glad you captured it...I trust Santa was hitching a ride!

Here is a famous scene from a Hayley music video. It is the Rose garden at Mona Vale. The Mona Vale homestead has been fully restored from the earthquake and is still a cafe/restaurant. and here is the Avon River

There are two big fires in the Port Hills Christchurch which have been burning for over a day and will take a while to put out. Sadly a helicopter crashed while trying to put out the fire and the pilot was killed. And so far one house was burnt down.

That's very sad news about the helicopter pilot. There was a terrible, deadly helicopter crash in Seattle a few years ago, when a local news station's pilot had just taken off from the top of the Fisher Plaza building, which is basically right next door to the Seattle Center & the Space needle. In fact, he crash-landed on a street corner right in front of the space needle, and a parked car was severley damaged, as well. It was a horrifying day for the news station, especially since they'd also lost a news anchor to a brain tumor not long before that, as well. Now, to get back on topic, which is a happier topic, thanks for your great photos! Now, what is it I'm seeing crawling on your camera/phone lens? It looks a bit like enlarged/magnified images of bacteria or viruses.

The situation is now much worse. A wind direction change now has the fire burning near some hill suburbs. 5 houses have been destroyed and now that it is dark and the helicopters cannot fly the fire could burn out of control.

That is terrible news. I hope the fires die down very soon. We get fires in Central and Eastern Washington in the summer too. And of course California gets them really bad, too. Here is pennylane's (Ngawara) post about it: http://instagram.com/p/BQi3SxzDMl1

Hi Ross and all, This is shocking news, as if Christchurch hasn't suffered enough from the vagaries of nature in the last few years. It is now front page news on the BBC website (News) and is being covered in their TV news broadcasts here. Dave
