Hi everyone, Thunderstorm! I took this photo about an hour ago from my front door, it was bright... loud... and wet! It looks like it was a house-to-house flash... but then again it could have been cloud-to-cloud! Cheers, Dave

WOW, what a fantastic photo! Must have taken some very good timing. Better than some I showed last friday for sure.
Hope you don't mind that I have copied this photo to a fellow weather enthusiast and professional metoerologist.

Hello Paul! I'm guessing the flash was a mile or so beyond the street light, but Dave might know for sure. It's definitely one of the best photos of lightning that I've ever seen! Richard

Hello Dave, That is a great photo of the lightning bolts across the sky! Amazing for a series of manual exposures. It almost looks as if the streetlamp was struck

Tumbleweed in the thread! I went to watch the D-Day 70th Anniversary celebrations at Lee-on-the-Solent last night - the HMS Daedalus airfield there was the first to send planes to France on D-Day, and was the busiest south coast airfield on D-Day, flying 435 missions on that day. It still operates today as a regional civilian airfield and air-sea rescue centre. There was a service of remembrance at the seafront memorial monument and several flypasts afterwards by a Lancaster bomber, Spitfires, Dakotas and other aircraft from that era. Here are a few photos I took! Look at the Dakota side-door - it's wide open and one of the crew is waving to us!!! The stripes are "Invasion Stripes", painted on all Allied invasion craft and aircraft for easy recognition. Cheers, Dave

They were to drop about 100 parachutists in France but it was too windy? I wish I had my camera with me! Cheers Tony

I didn't go to watch them take-off in the morning as the weather forecast was poor and I thought they'd probably assemble into formation further down the Solent towards Portsmouth so I had to make do with the TV news reports. BBC report here but oddly, no proper photos or video! I've just noticed another of my photos, it looks like I was above them! They were several miles away when they did the banked turn so the photo is heavily cropped. Cheers, Dave
