Hello everyone Here's something that hasn't happened to me before I've noticed that when I tweet somebody although it always appears on my home page, it doesn't always appear when I search for it on that persons tweets (if you get my drift!) This morning, I tweeted Hayley and it immediately appeared on both - so far so good. However, when I logged back on a little while ago, it now only appears on my home page I think this is probably why we see from time to time that people are repeating their tweets. Anyone else noticed any little idiosyncrasies with Twitter? Best wishes Grant

I tweeted a couple of friends about a week ago and they usually reply but this time they didn't, so maybe that was because of the same problem. Maybe Jono or Dean can shed some light on why this is happening?? Cheers Ben

Like I mentioned in the past, the "search" function isn't flawless. Very rarely a tweet may not show up in the search, and at other times it may show up. If you think in terms of what the search is actually doing - searching for key words among millions of tweets - you may see where things can go missing intermittently. It happens rarely, though.
As far as I'm aware, this will not affect the recipients ability to see any tweets directed at them.
And usually when you see more than one tweet in the search, it is because they deleted one and changed a mistake and then tweeted it again. The search will also show up the deleted tweet.

Hello Jono and everybody! A few weeks ago, Hayley deleted her tweet about the recording at Abbey Road Studios because so many big names were going to be there (I think we should include Hayley in that statement). After she deleted that tweet it still appeared in the search engine, so there wasn't really much point in deleting it. Richard

Hi Richard,
Is it still there now? If not, have you any idea how long it lasted in the search?

Hi Dave and Richard Hi Richard, Is it still there now? If not, have you any idea how long it lasted in the search? Dave It's certainly not there now but, from memory, I don't think the deleted tweet remained visible for very long. Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant & All, I made a tweet yesterday which vanished as I tried to enter it. I think its in 'cyberspace' as it didn't reappear. Actually I'll go and check before I make a lier liar of myself Graeme PS Its bad when you can't even spell liar.

Hello Martin Well, she still didn't remember my name on our sixth meeting. But I'm pretty sure she knows who I am now. Don't be so sure! I'm sure she will remember you before she remembers your name and she won't use that until she's certain she's got it right. Yes Grant, I'm sure you are right. I felt that she recognised me, but couldn't remember my name. I know she is a bright girl, but remembering the name of everyone she has ever met is expecting too much. I'm sure I can't do that, and I meet a lot less people than Hayley does. Martin

Hi Dave,
Just realised that you can only go back 7 days in a search. At least that's as far as it would let me go back now.

Jono I think it depends upon the number of tweets. I managed to get back to my first ever tweet on 27th August, but I only got back 6 days with tweets to Hayley and then got a message saying "Older Tweets are currently unavailable"Sounds like a glitch in the system to me. Best wishes Grant

Hello Dave! I can't get back to it now, but Hayley's tweet was certainly there for a few days after she deleted it. Richard

Tried tweeting Hayley as advised, but doesn't show up on her home profile, so I deleted it. Strange that Twitter is still doing this...

hello again! and I have another twitter question for our resident experts!! On the other page Jono was explaining twitter and I really thought I understood some stuff!! Jono said that you can't see another persons home profile, so why would Ben delete a post just because he couldn't see it? I take it that the page you see when you go to a person's name is NOT their home page??? SO confused!! But would love to figure this out so THANK YOU!!!! if you can answer this!!! Eva

Eva Hi Eva Don't be confused by me deleting my post!! I deleted it because by the time it shows up on Hayley's page, there will probably be 10's more tweets in front of it, so she would never see what I put. No point in keeping the tweet up if she doesn't come across it! Cheers Ben

Hi Eva,
As I understand it, if you go to a person's page you only see their tweets. You do not see the tweets that they see. So if you want to see all the tweets that mention a person or are directed to them, you have to use the search function. Searching for @hayleywestenra will list all the tweets directed to her or that meintion her in that way. You won't necessarily see the tweets of the people she is following though.
