(quotes copied from the Hayley Sings Japanese Songs 2 thread[/url]) ...Hayley will be appearing on NHK-TV next Tuesday. NHK is referred to BBC in UK. It is a public broadcasting station network here and is well watched by many Japanese. Hayley will be watched by many Japanese and her popularity will be increased more, I am sure. She is known here but still not very well known yet. Appearing on TV sure effects the the popularity and I think HSJS2 will be sold more. I am very curious how the Oricon Chart would be affected by this.Best wishes. Maya Hi Paulo. Yes, I will try to record it. What will be the best way to show it to you and others who are interested in?
To record, I usually use a hard disk recorder and burn it to DVD that can be playable by a regular DVD player. Converting from DVD format to mpg or avi would be better for upload, I think. Youtube will not be my choice and what I am thinking of is to upload to some site where you can access. Does HWI has some good site to upload? The size of the file will vary depending on the quality and the size. Is there any recommendation? Best wishes.MayaHello Maya! Thank you for this exciting news and for offering to record Hayley's appearance on NHK TV next week, I am sure we can find a way for you to upload the file for us. If you record only Hayley's appearance on the DVD (and not the rest of the show) the total file sizes at high quality would be about 300 megabytes for 5 minutes of video. How long that would take you to upload does of course depend on your maximum upload speed (over an hour at 500 kbps) but if you are willing to do it, I will find a way for you to upload it. You would not need to convert the files, you could just upload the entire contents of the VIDEO_TS folder from the DVD as I have some good conversion software. Are you familiar with FTP (file transfer protocol) and able to upload using it? Cheers, Dave

Hayley appears on Japanese TVs and her fan must be interested in watching them. I understand what you mean 100% and as far as you understand my limited English, we can communicate and everything would be all right. Hayley is currently visiting Japan and she is doing something very good which I'd better to introduce you. So that you can understand how she is doing something wonderful other than doing concerts at many local cities in Japan. Actually she appeared on TV last night too! It was a program about the coming of Golden Wedding for the Emperor Akihito and the Empress Michiko who wrote the lyric of the lullaby song “Nemunoki no Komoritra”. I wrote before that the lyric was written by the Empress Michiko when she was a student 50 some years ago. This time Hayley sings it and the TV program is introducing Hayley's visit to an orphanage, interview and singing part of Amazing Grace and the lullaby song. It was a 2 hours program but Hayley appeared at the end of the program and I recorded it in High Quality mode of my SONY HDD recorder. Hayley's part is 3 minutes 22 second and the size of the MPEG2 file is 212MBytes. Prior to upload NHK-TV program on 31st March, Shall I try this tonight? My Internet connection is by ADSL 5Mbps down and 700Kbps up. It requires me about 2 minutes to upload 10MBytes of file. I never have tried more than 25MBytes in the past. Theoretically it will be 20 minutes for 100MBytes and 43 minutes for 212MB. But my site which I use often only allows 25Mbytes maximum for 1 file. I just tried to compress the Hayley's part to a size of 9Mbytes and put it at my site which I inform you by the personal message. I am an engineer of electronics and you can count on me some. Tell me if you want to get the original size of the file or something bigger but less than 25Mbytes. FTP is not a problem to me but the problem is my wife who use the IP phone often to talk to her friends in a distance. When I upload a big file, she complains that the voice quality becomes poor. Any way, check my message that shows you the URL. Best wishes. Maya

Hi Maya, I can ask how do you connect to the internet? If you are using a Internet Router then you may need to setup Quality of Service (QoS). This is a feature that allocates upload speed for Voice over IP (VoIP) calls and should stop complaints during large file uploads. Cheers Dean

I will check the QoS availability on my old router 6 years old. Best regards. Maya

That's great news about Hayley's appearance on TV yesterday and i have downloaded the file, I will make it available to everyone in this thread a bit later today. I have read your message and my reply is in your Inbox, I don't think there will be any problems but as you suggest, we can test a few things. I will change the title of this thread to include all Hayley's TV appearances in Japan on her current tour. Thank you for all your help! Cheers, Dave

Thanks again Maya, and here is the "test" version of your recording, in Windows Media basic quality but I'm sure that everyone will enjoy seeing this! If I receive a higher quality version later, I will post that too. Hayley on Japan TV - Golden Wedding Anniversary program (March 25 2009, 3m:22s, 320x240, 368kbps, .wmv file) EDIT: New Improved version 640 x 480 Hayley in Japan Golden Wedding programme ( details are here ) Cheers, Dave

Hi Maya and Dave, First Maya thanks for recording and uploading Hayley's tv appearances. Dave it downloaded and played OK. As you expected the picture did break up at times, paticularly between changes of scene; but it was fine on a 'long run' . The newer bits...i.e Hayley were the best quality Thanks again to you both, Graham

Hi everyone.
Thank you Dave for arranging it. The title you gave it is very nice and suitable. I'm also glad that you all like it. Hayley is really doing great, you see.
Now I understand that my small effort with Dave's quick and good support can contribute HWI some. I would like to continue this type of activity in the future as long as Dave would support me. So that you can see how Hayley is doing here in Japan.
Since the experiment to upload 9Mbytes of 320x240 pixels file was OK, I would like to try better version. It is 640 x 480 pixels 700Kbps and the size of the file is 17340KB. I already informed Dave the link and I am hoping that he would arrange it for other members sometime when he is not busy.
The announcement in the broadcast was all in Japanese and you have no idea to use Google translation. If you need to know the detail, I will translate it when I am not busy. But to see is to believe. Without the translation, I am sure you can understand the contents by the key words I already wrote before.
Best regards. Maya

Hi Maya, 17 MB still sounds a very moderate size to me. It's always "the bigger the better" , qualitywise. Looking forward to it & thankyou. Graeme

Hi Graeme, There is a specific reason for the current file sizes, we are lucky to have what we have and I am sure we are all most grateful to Maya for this... I most certainly am, thank you Maya! Discussions continue. Cheers, Dave
