Hi All, This post is just to stop the rescheduled NZ Tour for around September 2009 being buried & forgotten. Graemek Ditto. One thing that's still on schedule is my wife's visit to her mum in Germany. She takes off 3.55pm tomorrow (our time) & will be away for nearly the whole of May. (DV) Graeme

This was on page 3 of the Manawatu Standard today: A slightly different reason given for the delay... whatever "scheduling issues with her record company" means... So there might be an announcement of new dates soon? Maybe if the expense is going to be taken of moving the operation over to New Zealand, they want it to be in support of a new album? I couldn't think of any other possible schedule issues... oh well, we can just cross our fingers!

How long is it now that we knew the tour had been postponed? it was well before Easter I hope the paper doesn't have a logo “First With The News” heh , nothing like letting your locals know well in advance re cancellations eh i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifcheers, Rodders

Oh, don't worry -- several NZ papers had sections saying "Hayley Westenra performing at so and so Hall tomorrow night -- Get your tickets" in today's paper! There's going to be some confused people in New Zealand, no doubt.

Tickets?? What do you mean, anyone who bought tickets? They weren't on sale yet!

There's going to be some confused people in New Zealand, no doubt. Tickets?? What do you mean, anyone who bought tickets? They weren't on sale yet! Oh dear! What a mess! This new reason for the postponement intrigues me The only thing we know that clashed with the tour is The Classical Brits on 14th May. What do you read into that! Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant, I know, it is intriguing -- I'm very tempted to get all carried away with wild ideas of what schedule conflicts there might be... but considering that the journalism here isn't exactly of Sherlock Holmes quality, I don't know whether they've got a scoop or whether it's just clumsy wording. In my fantasy land, there may have been problems with the promoter and it was decided that it'd be more worthwhile to pull the pin now and then come back when there's a new album to promote.... hence scheduling conflicts being the newly scheduled work on the album... oh well, I can dream. Here's the article of the other newspaper that is bit behind the times:

Problems with the promoter were initially given as the reason for re-scheduling and I agree it would be sensible to have the tour to coincide with an album release, but the suggested new dates are August/September and I didn't think we were getting a new album until next year. However, apart from the Brits, Hayley has dropped off the radar at the moment but she must be doing something - I've never known Hayley not to be doing something!! Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant Exactly my thoughts also at the moment. Without falling into the trap of "speculation" I think she must be recording and/or songwriting at present. Anyway, Hayley will be at the Brits so we might just find out! Best wishes Martin

Hello folks! It looks as though somebody in New Zealand missed the bus. Rodders must have forgotten to put his clocks back when Daylight Saving Time ended a few weeks ago! Richard

But yes, it wouldn't surprise me at all if you were right Martin, in which case we might be getting a new album in the autumn. Re the tour cancellation, I don't think I buy the idea that her record company insisted she came back to London to make a new album. I am more inclined to believe the original story about the promoter, especially as no tickets were on sale as late as three weeks before the tour was supposed to start. And it was stated, the new tour in the autumn will be with a different promoter. I think that maybe Hayley is using the free time that that has created in her schedule to work on the new album, and that may mean it will be released sooner than was thought possible a few weeks ago. Hi All. This was found from a search starting with the Manawatu Standard which eventually joins with Stuff NZ. It now becomes "what are we going to believe ?" source: www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/entertainment/2349708/Its-not-true-says-HayleyIt's not true, says HayleyThe Press Last updated 05:00 21/04/2009JOHN KIRK-ANDERSON/The Press 'GOOD FRIENDS': Hayley Westenra has scotched rumours that she is dating Welsh baritone Rhydian Roberts. Relevant offers Singing sensation Hayley Westenra has scotched rumours that she is dating Welsh baritone Rhydian Roberts. Welsh newspaper Wales on Sunday reported that the Kiwi singer was dating Roberts after his uncle said the pair had been out for meals together. However, last night the singer spoke to her Christchurch-based parents from her London home, saying she and Roberts were merely "really, really good friends". Roberts, the bleached-blond singer from Sennybridge in Wales, has been heading up Britain's music charts with his platinum-selling debut album. The 26-year-old was runner-up in the fourth series of the hit TV show The X Factor in 2007. He was consequently signed by the Sony BMG label, and described as a "global phenomenon" by television's Simon Cowell. Roberts has dated Cowell's make-up artist, 37-year-old Julia Carter. Westenra's River of Dreams tour will begin in New Zealand in August or September. My view is : Nothing's changed !!! Graeme
