Hi Ross,
I agree, I got my copy last friday and I like it, and for what we can read in the booklet, the stupid titles are from the movie director!

Hello folks! The best thing to do is to focus our attention on the music and ignore the song titles and the film. Richard

My copy of this arrived this morning, very quick service from Amazon. My HSJS2 arrived as well but I decided to play LVK first as I want to savour HSJS2 later. I have th Cd playing at the moment, some of it reminds me of Holst's Planets, It is as you would expect from Debbie Wiseman and I suspect this music will stand on it's own merit long after the movie is forgotten. It really is very pleasant to the ear, great orchestral crescendos and very dramatic. Just an afterthought, Mike Oldfield's Intro to Tubular Bells was used for the Exorcist and I don't remember anyone trying to disassociate themselves with the music or Mike Oldfield because of it

Hi Comet, Just an afterthought, Mike Oldfield's Intro to Tubular Bells was used for the Exorcist and I don't remember anyone trying to disassociate themselves with the music or Mike Oldfield because of it I know nothing about that but if the intro was used (which implies subsequently), it is a vastly different situation to an artist recording an entire soundtrack specifically for a film. Also, unless anybody here has been actively supporting Mike Oldfield for years, they are not likely to know if anyone disassociated themselves or not. Most importantly, as I have already stated, Hayley knew nothing of the film's content and I have every reason to believe that, had she known, she would not have done it. In view of the above, and for other reasons, I find your comparison utterly irrelevant. Roger

My mind wanders on tangents very rapidly, which explains why I am often off topic I have followed Mike's music since 1972 or 1973 not being particularly interested in the politics of what it was used for. But being on The Soundtrack for the Exorcist did Mike no harm and introduced his music to millions worldwide. As I said before, I will not judge, as I hope not to be judged If stoning was still popular I would be the proud owner of a Pyramid of stones

and on another tangent. I found Hayley's support or involvement with the War Machine far more objectionable than her connection with this trivial film. A song by Leonard Cohen from The album Various PositionsThe Captain Lyrics deleted by Dave

Sorry Paul (and everyone) but we really ought to try and keep this thread on topic, it's contentious enough as it is!
Cheers, Dave

Comet, I assume what you mean by this, is Hayley's support for the Poppy appeal, and visiting Afghanistan to sing for the troops? I'm intrigued at people's reviews of this CD, and its got me thinking its about time I purchased a copy! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifOther than 'Flood', what other soundtrack has Hayley worked with Debbie Wiseman on?

Comet and IHF,
I and several others have had to educate our current church minister about this, and he has come round to our point of view. Supporting the Poppy Appeal has nothing to do with supporting war. Wars are made by politicians which some of you probably voted for (I certainly didn't, I gave up voting years ago, after I learned it doesn't change anything). No, the Poppy Appeal is all about supporting the VICTIMS of war, which is as much about service people caught up in it as it is about any other casualties. The service people are as much victims as anyone else, they do not ask to be killed and maimed. They do not ask to be put in harms way. But they face that possibility bravely. And they are often shabbily treated by the politicians whose jobs they protect. They deserve our support, and I am glad and proud that Hayley supports them.
Sorry mods, this is OT
Martin

I can't believe I nearly let you lot put me off buying this album !
This composition is up there with the 1812, The Four Seasons, Bolero and The Planets
I will create my own images for this wonderful modern day piece of absolutely classical music. ( I will try and avoid the DVD )
It evokes beautiful sunrises, Majestic cosmic happenings, prolonged and beautiful sunsets, moonlight on calm lakes, plants growing in slow motion.
Miss this CD at your own expense, even if Hayley was not on it, It is a majestic piece of composition, Debbie you are a genius in my book, If I could kiss you for this one I would, XXX this has rare and beautiful creativity written all over it.
The Showaddywaddy at the end is there just to wake you up again from the dreamlike state this music induces. I suspect I will still be listening to this one in forty years time.
It is brilliant ! Throw away the sleeve notes and packaging if you will, but you WILL keep the disc for the music.

Hi Comet
Well it wasn't me! I love this soundtrack. In fact I played it again, only for the second time, for my friend Steve as we drove up into the peak district to photograph millstones this morning and he loved it.
I actually think I enjoyed it more on second hearing than I did first time around!
Best wishes Grant

Hello IHF! Hayley also worked with Debbie on the soundtrack of the TV series 'Jekyll'. You can read all about it in this thread. I will also buy the LVK soundtrack CD soon, but I won't waste my money on a DVD or a cinema ticket. Richard

Debbie should just re name this album and re issue it,
Something like : Sunrises, Beauty and love.
and take the last track off it. It just does not belong there.
