No Graham, to be a 'star' in my view is to be universally known within and without your talent area. That they do not 'revolve in your circle' is indicative they are merely actors known to a fringe interest cult. they are not 'stars', though they may be the 'leads'. This appellation is a lazy journalist's word because his space is too short for a longer more accurate description, although he could always have used 'lead'.

HAYLEY DIDN'T KNOW Hi everyone, I have just received information from the most reliable source possible which says that Hayley was unaware of the content of the movie at the time of the recording.I don't know how this came about but she is completely blameless. Well done to those of you who suggested the possibility. Hayley, I want to be the first to say I am so sorry that any of us ever doubted your integrity and that we are here to support you as always. Roger The first rational comment we have had on this debate which explains everything! However it also raises more questions. What was Debbie Wiseman doing writing for it? This is a talented person who would appear to have written a good soundtrack (I have only heard bits). She must have known the purpose, so why did she say 'yes'? When unquestionable talent follows the less talented, where are any standards? Okay, the lady's got to live and we all need money... but it is quite possible for Debbie to have asked Hayley for her 'instrumental' presence without her knowing the all, as well as it being quite possible that Debbie already had much of the music written and was suddenly presented with an outlet for it. I don't think there would have been any deliberate misleading. It arose from a situation of mutual respect and trust which implied certain relationships/attitudes and which, in hindsight, should have been better regulated, or legally defined, in terms of how the material might be used and what consultation was necessary before authorisation for any then unknown purpose. A lesson to be learned by Hayley's management/legal team. Even in that situation we have precedent in reverse. The Horner débâcle. She fully knew what she was doing and they then didn't use it because someone who agreed all along suddenly changed their mind, or indicated they had been lying all along and then drove the stake into the heart of the matter! These things happen. In creative matters it can be very difficult to envisage how things can go adrift and legally prevent them scuppering the intentions/expectations of all the individual participants. Grant(?) said As I said earlier in the thread I felt the way it had progressed to that point said more about those participating than it said about Hayley! To help the anguish of those now possibly feeling somewhat abashed, I empathised with many expressing horror but just refrained from saying so. Wise words were said by several that we don't know the details so hold off. Dori(?) said To which Roger replied: However, if we take the fact that Steve and Hayley are currently in Japan, it may well have taken some time for the import of this thread to reach their consciousness. In that, I am going to presume we have done some service. I haven't looked on how this subject has been treated on Hayley's official site (if at all) but we have illustrated the views of many Hayley fans and given an inkling of how this might rebound. They are therefore forewarned and better prepared to handle any salacious press enquiries. Peter S.

Hello Peter and everyone However it also raises more questions. What was Debbie Wiseman doing writing for it? This is a talented person who would appear to have written a good soundtrack (I have only heard bits). She must have known the purpose, so why did she say 'yes'? This has been puzzling me too. I don't know much anything about writing film scores but would guess Debbie had to know something about what she was writing for - and who chooses the titles? More to the point, what is/can Hayley do about it now. Those of us who supported "the decision" did so on the assumption that there were facts we didn't know and that Hayley "obviously knew what she was doing" Now we know that Hayley participated innocently in the project, and almost certainly would not have, had she know all the facts, she has been placed in a difficult situation which could compromise her "pure" image. Best wishes Grant

Just what I have been waiting to hear. I would not like to be the person 'who did know' though, when Hayley catches up with them A very relieved, Graham

Hi Roger,
Well I delighted to hear that Hayley was not informed where the sound track was being used. I'm also puzzled on how this could happen. Did her management people know and not tell her? Or didn't they know either. Seems like they should have known. But I won't condemn them until more facts are revealed. My support for Hayley never wavered.

Hi Larry,
I am equally puzzled but I don't know the answer to your questions and I don't expect I ever will. What is clear is that certain information was not passed on as far as it should have been but where the breakdown came is not known. We already know a lot more than any group of fans could normally expect to be told. Whatever the reason, and whoever may be at fault, it is not HWI's place to hold any sort of enquiry.

Well, it is good to hear that! Thank you Roger. The whole thing was just so unlike the Hayley we know and love that it was hard to believe that she had gone along with it. It felt as if she had taken leave of her senses. No wonder so many of us were confused by it. Perhaps we have all learned a lesson here, and perhaps our princess has too.

Yeah it is strange about that, but I suppose most of us don't know what goes on, and how things are done within the music industry, in that regard. All I really want to do is have a listen to the soundtrack. Maybe even go see the movie too!

Nah IHF. I shall just forget that it exists. Perhaps Hayley, now that she knows, would like to do the same. The soundtrack might be palatable, if I could forget where it came from, but I'm sure I would hate the film. I'm not much of a one for films anyway, or I suppose fiction in general. I can often be persuaded to go and see a film if it has good music, but I don't think even Hayley could do that in this case. Even if she did make me love both Wuthering Heights and Mother of Mine, that had always turned me off before.

Well, to be honest, its not really my kind of movie either, but I'm sure I will probably end up watching it at some stage (probably on DVD). But I'll only be watching it because of Hayley's involvement in the soundtrack. No, honest! However, I'm sure that alot of people will want to see this movie, as controversial movies tend to receive alot of publicity, and due to this, prove to be successful at the box office. Only time will tell I guess.

Hi All Well That's a relief. We've learned nothing sinister about Hayley (quite the opposite) but have learned how quickly the seed of doubt can be sown. Graeme

That may be so, Graeme, but we can only base opinion on information known at the time. If that subsequently proves to be incorrect, then a retraction is made which is what happened last night.
We are more fortunate than most of Hayley's fans in that we are able to make enquiries. I did that ten days ago and, although I received a reply, it did not include the most significant piece of information - that Hayley didn't know. That wasn't known until last night. Meanwhile, it is hardly surprising that the discussion took the course that it did.

All I really want to do is have a listen to the soundtrack. Maybe even go see the movie too! Hi IHF, The thing is, the movie soundtrack will not necessarily bear much resemblance to Debbie Wiseman's score... do you remember The New World, when even the illustrious James Horner's soundtrack was unceremoniously ejected? So until one of us has been to see this film and reported on it, we won't know how much (if any) Hayley got through to the final product. Anyone who is thinking of going to see it, beware! It has been almost unanimously hammered by the critics, with the one exception of Jonathan Ross who said he enjoyed it... but he said that when face to face with the main actors, perhaps he was just being polite. In the latest review on BBC Radio Five Live on Friday afternoon, one reviewer said he asked the other, 10 minutes in to their preview, what he thought of it. The answer was "it's rubbish!" Apparently, it's the script that's very weak, the soundtrack is good and the visuals are OK (for the genre). However, not all films hammered by the critics are box office flops, there are some notable exceptions. The Radio 5 critics wondered if this is the kind of film that nobody (except Jonathan Ross!) would ever admit to liking... not even if they loved it! But of course, if nobody likes it, we'll never know! Cheers, Dave

Well Dave There's been so much talk about this movie over the last few days that I have every intention of seeing it; whether it be at the cinema or on DVD. Mmmm! actually considering the reviews, would I be seen dead watching it at the cinema? Looks like it will be a DVD then! Best wishes Grant
