As for least favourite, I think I would choose Mother of Mine, but that is probably becuase I remember many years ago a TV talent contest being won by an 8 year old boy singing that song, and it came over as so naff, that I absolutely hated it. The said 8 year old was never heard of again of course! Hello Martin! Neil Reid is now an Independent Financial Adviser living in Blackpool: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_ReidRichard

Hi Richard,
Thanks for that! Wikipedia has it all. I was wrong, he must have been 11 years old when he won Opportunity Knocks. I still thought it was awful.
And opportunity knocks. Hughie Green, Paula Yates, dad Double your Money! The memories come flooding back.

Aw, Mother of Mine is one of my favorites. I find it stuck in my head quite often, which is pleasing to me.
Sometimes I think it is best when songs are all new to your ears, as these songs were for me. There's nothing to compare them to, for better or worse, and you can judge them for what they are, rather than what they were when other artists sang them.

Joe,
Perhaps you should have mentioned that it is Mother's Day in the USA on Sunday! A certain flower shop in Chicago has been plaguing me with emails about it this week, becise a few years ago I once bought some flowers from them for the funeral of a mt daughter's best friend (she had moved to Chicago and died in a car crash). This album was released just before our own Mothering Sunday, which is the 4th Sunday in Lent.
There is an episode of Lewis on the TV in front of me, with an all girl string quartet playing, and YES, it is RAVEN. WOW!

i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif For Mothyers Day I made Mum a slideshow DVD of gardens and other scenery around Christchurch set to the music of HSJS 2 . I know that is a bit naughty of me but then since the CD cost me $70 which is twice as much as a normal CD I thought I would get my moneys worth lol. I will ring her later to see if she has seen it yet and also see if she and Dad want to go to see the musical Les Miserables in Ashburton later in the month.

I have heard this album a good few times and the tracks I favour most are without a doubt Track 7 Warabigami - A Child God. This is the track I play most. It is about the most important function of the human race, to raise, nurture and protect children, The new generation in the hope they will do a better job than us at protecting the planet and it's people. The previous generations don't have to much to be proud of really, The ozone layer, needless war and famine, destruction of the very planet that gives us life, the sea and the rain forests just for the short term profit of the few in power My second favourite is : Track 9 Itsumo nand deno - Many Times Always I love the vocals and the rhythm in this one.. Oh ! just play it again and again.......

Hi everyone, Have a look at these beautiful cd graphics that someone made for HSJS2. I love these and I think that they should have been on the actual cd's! ppp.atbbs.jp/dolce/mode/all/3530/0

Yes, Jillian, they are better I think than the ones on the CD.
BTW, I now, having had chance to let it stand the test of time, regard this as my favourite Hayley album. I think that the firsts HSJS has stronger songs, but what tips it for me is two things. Firstly, Hayley's voice has never sounded so magnificent on any other album IMO. And secondly there are some great lyrics in there. Today I played two albums in the car - the first was HSJS2, and the second the Very Best of Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens was a very well regarded singer songwriter, but I really don't think his lyrics are any better than Hayley's. Actually, those two artists have a lot in common, both are primarily spiritual and emotional, rather than physical or intellectual. Both have written songs that I, and I expect a lot of others, can relate to and identify with. Both use simple words to powerful effect.
I love
"The morning comes without fail, it never waits for me. The sun shines too brightly I'm always late out the door, I'm always wanting more, that's every day for me."
Me too Hayley! And I have to get up at latest around 7 am on work days. It nearly kills me. Then go to bed long before I feel tired because if I don't I know I will be dead in the morning. Sue OTOH, like to go to bed about 10pm and gets up early quite happily. I am much more suited to working nights than her, yet she is the one who works nights and I have to get up early. We got something wrong somewhere!
And "Blank pages before me cry out for words" is a lot better than Spandau Ballet's "Why do I find it hard to write the next line". Although I don't think that is quite what Hayley had in mind when she wrote that.
