CD-RW Professional ReWritable Compact Disc - Universal Compatibility
almost every word in the above line is untrue, But it was printed on the boxes of discs that were far from cheap, I won't mention the brand as their products are usually top quality. I have just wasted two afternoons formatting these discs and transferring files to them for use on another computer, Nothing but TROUBLE with format issues, and non compatibility with Vista etc.
The only good thing is, I now have lots of perfect empty CD cases. Must test my Lidl CD Shredder, I may be back here sooner than expected

Anyone watching else watching Chelsea v. Stoke City football match ?
WOW...that was one of the best match finishes I've seen in the Premier League. Stoke were up one goal to about the 85th minute when Chelsea scored the equalizer. Chelsea later then scored in the 2nd minute of stoppage time to win!

Hi Joe,
Ignoring the interloper - we cannot watch the 3pm Saturday kick-offs live on TV, here in the UK, we have to wait until the recorded highlights are played later in the evening. There was live radio coverage of Bolton vs. Manchester United, who also scored a very late goal, to win and go top of the Premier league for the first time this season i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
Aston Villa the 4th team also came from behind with only 10 men to win... so it was a pretty exciting afternoon! But we mustn't turn this thread into a football thread or we'll soon be in deep trouble from those (including Roger ) who aren't much interested in it!
Back on topic it makes me really mad that we cannot watch live UK football on UK TV at 3pm pm Saturday afternoons - but the rest of the World can!!!!

Worse still Dave is that unless you subscribe to satellite TV then you cannot watch England home rugby matches (home nations competition), England cricket test series and the Ryder Cup.
Because the BBC is unable to compete financially with the satellite companies it is left mainly with the minority sports such as horse racing, darts and snooker. YUK !!!
The one exception is Formula 1 motor racing which the BBC has just won the television rights from ITV.
Well, I'm watching the recorded highlights of Bolton v Manchester United now.
Grant, I Iived in Derby, I would probably loathe football too. Didn't they once sack Brian Clough?
But Leicester City, who most of my family support, are doing rather well, currently top of Division One (the third tier of English football). My own team, Peterborough United, are fourth in the same league, and my nose is constantly rubbed in it! Especially after Leicester beat them 4-0 the other week. My (second) son and my daughter's boyfriend both support Tottenham Hotspur, currently bottom of the premiership, so there is no hope for them!
Martin, I remember years ago, when I lived in Sweden, being able to watch English football live on TV every Saturday afternoon. Wonderful. But I suspect the FA and Football League are worried that live broadcasts here would affect match attendances. They are quite happy to sell the rights overseas though!

An angry licence fee payer.
Martin
Hi everyone, well it sounds to me as though you have the same scenario as we do here in NZ. The one big difference is we no longer pay an annual licence fee which surprises me that you still do in the UK.
Sky TV here in NZ have got pretty well all sports well and truly tied up, with Cricket,Rugby Union,Rugby League, UK Football, etc etc etc. With the exception of the recent Tennis Tournament that has just finished that was on the free to air TVNZ's One Sport covered that. BUT, if you want to see the Australian Tennis Open, It's on Sky with news clips on the free to air bulletins at night.
For me,and a lot of us here, we all head down to the workingman's club and watch the main feature which could be Rugby, League,Cricket, Tennis etc on the giant big screen and not only that,
No seriously, I'll tell you a little bedtime story Many years ago I had been out for the day, a Saturday, with friends and we had returned to Derby with the intention of going for a Chinese meal. The Shing Do was a favourite in those days.
Well, as we walked towards the restaurant, we came across a chap standing on the pavement reading the "Green Un" (that was our local Saturday sports paper in those days and it was printed on green paper, hence the name.)
One of my so called friends suggested I asked this chap how Derby had gone on today and I fell for it hook line and sinker and asked the question.
"Seven o'clock on a Sat'dy nait and thee don't no how Derby's dun!!?" was the reply I got. My friends, of course were already in the Shing Do laughing their heads off!
Hi Grant, I assume you mean soccer. As an American ,I didn't like it until it gained popularity in the schools here. Then after seeing that it gave more of the smaller students a chance to participate I began to change my outlook on the game. Participating in school sports is important in the U S. American football is not suited for the smaller students; but soccer gives them an opportunity to participate.
So I'm not the only unBritish person since it is supposed to be our national sport. I always thought that was cricket. A gentle sun, decent deck-chair, well-cut grass, ladies chatting in the background as they prepare the tea and a Pimm's No.1. beside me. Howzat? Peter S.
