Looks like Rhydian is escaping Simon Cowell's clutches with the hope of becoming a proper classical singer. Good on him.

Hi Richard,
I guess it was probably a mutual thing ... I wouldn't imagine that Simon would have the patience for Classical Crossover. It's much more of a slow burn kind of thing.
I'm glad that Rhydian has decided to do this... as a classical singer he could easily have a long career ahead of him --- compared to the short life span that a lot of Cowell artists have.
It will be interesting to see if anything about Rhydian changes now that he's not part of that label.

This news is long overdue and I for one am one happy bunny to hear that Rhyd is finally free of Sony. It will now give him the freedom to achieve his dream. With the right label behind him, the world will be his oyster. He is seriously one Class Act.

Hi Comet Rhydian fans are absolutely wonderful in taking and posting their videos for all who cannot go to see him in action. I have to admit to not even owning a mobile let alone knowing how on earth they get videos onto Youtube!!! So all credit to them. No he didn't sing O Fortuna at the concert but he sang a very varied list. He even had the elderly male voice choir joining in to Go West - lol. Here is O Fortuna at The Classical Brit Awards if you haven't already seen it! It was pure luck that he actually appeared since some clever person locked him in a corridor directly before his performance and it was a miracle that he was "released" in time and quite literally ran to the stage. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj0gKTbdLtQ&feature=relatedA few more vids from the Blaenavon concert. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8arg1NapDsUTo where you are www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5oXoaDmwLgMusic of the Night www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCkRNdlnedg&feature=relatedAve Verum Corpus Enjoy!

Thanks Maggie for keeping us up to date with Rhydian.
I only get to look in on a couple of forums every so often so your posts here are gratefully received and welcomed.
This thread here on HWI is a good place to introduce listeners to Rhydian who may not otherwise come across him by other means. A good few of our members here first heard of Rhydian on this forum..

Thanks for the links, Maggie! I've corrected the release date of Rhydian's album in your post, but you can edit your own post for 24 hours if you click on "modify" in the top right corner. Best wishes, Richard
