Hi All, I decided to make a new thread for this after I'd spent a very pleasant day with martindn last Saturday while Hayley was invoved in the Shrewsbury Flower Show, a mere 17,051.24 Kms away. This thread is going to be mostly pictorial as both Martin & I took quite a few pics. Here's the first one I took. (or rather my camera standing on a handy post) We'd been told as we left Martins hotel that a Whale with her calf was just offshore. ..we'd seen her (spout & Tail) & moved North past Bondi Beach to Ben Buckler to get a closer look....sadly, we didn't her again. Since Martin will be returning home later in the week, he probably won't post any till he's reconciled with his PC. Graeme

Wonderful photographs, Graeme! It looks as though the Australian Winter is much better than the British Summer this year! Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Joyce, I don't know really but I don't think so...its too far North of Bondi where Martin & I saw the mother & calf on Saturday. The rescuers were able to get the abandoned calf in contact with pods of whales with calves but they either weren't interested or were the wrong species. Graeme....makes me feel awful that we can't do anything.

Wonderful photographs, Graeme! It looks as though the Australian Winter is much better than the British Summer this year! Best Wishes, Richard Hi Richard, funny you should say that! There is only a couple of degrees in it. and the Aussie winter seems to have a lot less rain than the English summer. Meanwhile, the Aussies I am working with are complaining about the cold, and think I am mad because I turn up to work in a short sleeved shirt! It hit 20 degrees C today, if that is winter I can live with it! I saw plenty of surfers braving the cold at Bondi Beach today though! As for my photos, I will see what I can post that Graeme hasn't already when I get home. His pictures make me realise the limitations of my camera though! Martin

Try having a Dad from Australia. He doesn't consider 30 degrees C hot, although I do. It's insane, and today its 15 degrees. Can't wait to see how he'll react to that! Bad summer here too, the best was while we were away!
Australia is one place I'll have to visit. My Aunts both live in New South Wales so in a few years I'll be visiting them with my parents and sister.
Great photographs Graeme! I can't wait to see Sydney in person!

Hi Martin, NL. The weathers more wintry today but its true we have plenty of sunshine. Trouble is we don't get enough water for our farms or cities.....there is a term here "green drought" which describes it. Bon voyage Martin...say hi to Hayley for us. NL we live about 110 Kms South from Sydney centre....Oak Flats the town is called...maybe we live near your aunties without realising it. View from the ferry nearing Circular Quay.Graeme

Hi Gramek,
What a gorgeous scene. I hope to visit someday. If I do I'll look you up and let you buy lunch. Just kidding. If I come I'll buy.

Hi Larry & Martin, Larry, I enjoy showing visitors a little bit of Sydney....specially the lunch part...so please tell me when you're coming. Martin, enjoyed the day very much. Enjoy Lincoln Castle concert. Yes, the weather is overcast & rainy today....the doggies don't even want to go for a walk !!! So I'd say the sunshine was for you. Tell Hayley I'd be happy to show her Sydney too.... if she hasn't seen it already.Graeme PS Marianne & I enjoyed Madame Butterfly last night.....we played Hayley's One Fine Day this morning.....fantastic....
