Hi Richard Thanks for the update. I wasn't sure that I would actually bother with this album, although there are some interesting covers so I may just change my mind i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAny idea what '[interlude]' means? Best wishes Grant

Hello Grant! I'm only guessing, but I suspect an interlude is a short track like Hayley's 'Melancholy Interlude'. Richard

Can't believe you music gurus don't know what an interlude is! It's music which goes in between two main sections, or pieces of music.. For instance, in classical music it would be the part between the two sections/movements. Or in a play its the music that is played between the acts. And yeah I guess it would normally be short, but not necessarily.

Thanks Richard. The songlist looks very contemporary, surely taking classical crossover to the extreme? There's even an Elvis number in "Love me tender".
I look forward to hearing the album.

The tracklisting for All Angels' next album looks great. It has some of my favorite songs - I'll Fly Away, Wayfarin' Strange, Simple Gifts, Deep River. Seems like All Angels like to sing American folk songs and spirituals. And it's no wonder - because they sound great in them. I think they should try doing some Sacred Harp songs, like Anonymous 4 has done.

I'm very excited about this album-- it looks like their best yet! And I'm definitely OK with it being far removed from the "usual" definition of classical crossover.

Hi all.
My immediate reaction is that there are some songs with which I am completely unfamiliar and those with which I am familiar strike me as excitingly challenging. The immediate impression their first album made on me was the skill of the arrangers. By taking some songs that will be universally known they are giving themselves a challenge in terms of the arrangement of their voices. If they make it it is going to be superb. Thoughts in my mind are: 2. Wayfarin' Stranger 3. Blowin' In The Wind 7. Send In The Clowns 11. Love Me Tender 12. Deep River 13. I Dream Of Jeannie With The Light Brown Hair 15. When Johnny Comes Marching Home 17. Somewhere

I don't have a great feeling about this album in light of the track listing. Not that it will be bad, no doubt their voices will be at their best, and the arrangements at their most interesting, but the music style is pulling away from my tastes. Swing/Big Band/Classic Musicals etc, are just areas that I have never felt an affinity with. I will still get it, if only for their rendition of James Horner's 'All Love Can Be' (if it IS James Horner's). I love their arrangements and look forward to hearing what they'll do with it. I'm quite saddened by the tracklisting, actually. I guess I might have better luck with the fourth album, and who knows, maybe All Angels will be the ones to convert me!

Hi Richard, Is I'll Fly Away the old U S country gospel piece performed by a multitude of country artists? Thats an interesting mix of songs on the C D. I'll be anxious to know how it does. I'm not familiar with the All Angels. Are they popular in Britain?

Nicola, where are you seeing an association with swing/big band in the tracklisting? "Cucurrucucu Paloma" is (I believe) only remotely associated with the bossa nova tradition, and "Somewhere," "Send in the Clowns," and songs from Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" are as "classical" as the American songbook gets! Yes, Larry, I'll Fly Away is an old gospel tune, and will be a duet with the Harlem Gospel Choir on AA's new album! Did I mention I'm psyched about this?

Hello Dazza.
Unfortunately the video features the complete album track, which is an infringement of copyright, so I deleted the link in your post. Sorry.
