Hi All,
I always thought it was Bourne Mouth, ie the mouth of a Bourne" which is a seasonal stream in chalk country that dries up in dry weather when the water table falls.
But actually I was there last week and I can tell you the Pavilion Theatre looked OK. I won't be there though, The Beach Road car park is not far away, but you need to be careful, the car parks in Bournmouth seem to be regularly patrolled by uniformed attendants in small Citroens with the council logo on them. I think they might be a bit hot on overstaying.
The only ROD i'm doing is Northanpton, but it will be at Stoke tomorrow, and if I can get the time off work, the Barbican (assuming I can get things organied before they sell out).

Hey Graham,
Work is certainly an inconvenience. Retirement is good ; but you have to be old to do it. We just can't win can we.
Be well, Larry

Hi Larry,
Well, I could retire in just over a year's time, but looking at the way my pension is going right now, I would be better off waiting for things to pick up a bit. No good retiring if I can't afford to go to see Hayley now is it?

How's this for a bit of useless information? Assuming Hayley travels from each venue to the next by the most direct route, and assuming she starts and ends in London, she will travel a total of 2,806 miles! See? I told you it was useless information! Roger

Hi Grant, I was biding my time (as you put it) for longer than you think. I started it yesterday! It took me a while to add them all up. Well, I couldn't find my abacus, ya see? By the way, you can add Paul (+1) to the list for Bournemouth. He is known as crystalpaul on the forum but, as he posts so rarely, perhaps he isn't known at all! Anyway, he is the artist who painted the portrait of Hayley in the gold dress and then donated part of the proceeds from the sale to UNICEF. Roger

Hi Roger
Thanks for that - I've updated my post.
I also believe Rebecca Brett will be at at least one concert - possibly Northampton, but she hasn't confirmed either way yet.
Here's hoping we can get a few more and top 100!
Best wishes Grant

If I were her I would stay the night somewhere, then fly to Aberdeen from Birmingham or Manchester (I flew Birmingham to Aberdeen myself earlier this year). So are your miles road miles or air miles? Hi Martin, No, I don't see any benefit in her returning to London between Stoke and Aberdeen as they are on consecutive nights. She would only get half way down before she met herself going back again! My distances are based on road miles which, I imagine is how she will be travelling for most of the tour. I wonder if she plays "Spot the HWI member" while she's travelling! Roger

Hi Roger,
So my point is that she will be starting the tour from Stoke or thereabouts, not London, and that will make a difference to the mileage.
Yes, I wonder how many of us she will meet on this tour!

These five posts have been moved from the Leamington Spa thread. Hi Grant,
Thanks to Andrew I'll be attending six concerts. It's hard to get ahead of you; but that's o k. I'll look forward to seeing you at one of the events.
Larry Thanks to Andrew I'll be attending six concerts. Hi Larry
I guess then, that one of them must be Dunfermline. What are the other five?
Best wishes GrantHi Grant,
Well I had to cancel out on Newcastle so I'll only be at five. Liverpool, Northampton, Llandudno, Birmingham, and Manchester. Are you attending any of these? I don't have a clue where they are. I may need some advice from a native Brit. I can't believe I've turned into a seventy year old groupie.
Be well Larry I don't have a clue where they are. I may need some advice from a native Brit. Hi Larry
You might find maps.google.co.uk useful for finding concert locations. Find the zip code (we call it post code in UK) in the concert thread and type it into the search box. It will show you the location.
There are plenty of people here can help you out if you get stuck.
Guess we'll meet up at Northampton which should be quite a big gathering - keep your eye on the thread to see and join in with the pre concert arrangements.
Look forward to meeting up again!
Best wishes GrantHi Larry,
I will be at Northampton too. It will be good to meet again ( we met briefly at Buxton).
Liverpool is a major city and seaport on the west coast of England. It is famous for the Beatles of course, and its soccer team. The River of Dreams is the Mersey. Northampton is a medium sized town in the middle on England, roughly 70 miles north of London. The River of Dreams is the Nene (sometimes called the Nen). I was born in the Nene valley, but some 50 miles downstream of Northampton. Llandundno is a seaside resort in Wales, on the North coast. It doesn't really have a river, but the nearest is probably the Conwy (or Conway). Birmingham is England's second biggest city, in the middle of the country. It's river is the Rea (pronounced "Ray", but it is more famous for its canals - it is said to have more miles of canals than Venice. The concert is in the Town Hall, which is nice, but Birminghams Symphony Hall is one of the finest concert halls in the world, and I am waiting for a chance to hear Hayley sing there. I once had tickets to see her there (with Celtic Woman), but the show was cancelled. You can hear a pin drop anywhere in that auditorium. Manchester is a large conurbation, not too far from Liverpool, to the North East. It is on the same river as Liverpool, the Mersey (do we know anyone called Mersey ?). The Bridgewater Hall is a very fine concert hall. It is named after a Duke who built a canal there.
Hope this helps
Martin

Hi Grant or anyone else with some advice,
Would you advise me to stay in Manchester or London and commute to each venue? Or do you think I should move my hotel for each venue? Also would you recommend renting a car or using the trains? I'm going to Liverpool, Northampton, LLandudno, Birmingham, and Manchester. I'm really confused. I like the convenience of a car; but I'm not sure it would be to practical. Being from the U S I don't trust trains to ever be on time.
HELP!!!

With the RoD tour imminent, it is likely that a large number of photographs will be posted to the forum over the next few weeks. Naturally, we do not want to limit the quantity of photographs that may be posted. It is therefore more important than ever that the size of each one does not exceed 100Kb. Regrettably, any which do may have to be removed.
I would also ask that members refrain from duplicating individual photographs by using the "quote" button. If you wish to discuss an earlier photograph, please give a link to the post in which it appeared or, if it is absolutely necessary to re-post it, please downsize it to literally a thumnail image.
Thanks, Roger
