Hi Grant
I have decided to join you at this one - just need to book my overnight stay. Have you found anywhere yet ?
I am in seat A19 - just 10 seats down from you. Its front row but slightly off centre should be fine.
Best wishes
Mark

Hi! Just booked an over night stay for this. I am once more revelling in getting out and about and utilising the saving of waving a senior railcard, so I've plumped for the Holiday Inn by the castle. Easy walking station to hotel to concert hall. A little time to wander while tyhere is still light and the morning too of course. I'm catching the after-lunch train, allowing myself time for self-indulgence beforehand but lunch on the train on the way back. I'm in C11 tier 8 but I now cannot remember if they are posting me the tickets or I have to get them out of a m/c! oh bother. Peter S.

Despite his helpful post, Karsten hasn't confirmed for this one so it could be just Grant, Mark and Peter. That's strange because St David's Hall in Cardiff always used to be a favourite venue for HWI gatherings. Suddenly, there will only be three. Well, I'm sorry but that's just not good enough, so... See ya there folks! Roger

Hello everyone I shall be arriving in Cardiff between 1.30 and 2.00pm and will be staying at my usual friendly B&B on Coldstream Terrace. I intend to be at the venue by 3.00pm and hope to catch up with Hayley and/or either Richard or Dave as I have an 'official' duty to perform to get the first batch of 10 posters to Hayley for signing and to ask her if she is willing to sign a few more I have never been to this venue before and directions to it look rather complicated. Does anyone know whether the concert is in Hall 1 or Hall 2? Looking forward to seeing everyone there! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant

I think they are both approached through the same booking office but Roger will know he has been there more often than I have. Currently 'lost my tickets' so unsure of my train arrival around mid-pm anyway but I'll nook into my hotel first and freshen up. I'm in the Holiday Inn this time which is only a ten minute walk away. This is a quick 'in and out' event for me. The Hall is only a five minute walk from the castle walls into the city centre. So if you know where the castle is, you shouldn't have a problem from then on. Peter S.

I have never been to this venue before and directions to it look rather complicated. Does anyone know whether the concert is in Hall 1 or Hall 2? Hi Grant, I am not aware there are two concerts halls. Don't confuse it with St David's Centre and St David's 2, both of which are shopping centres. You want St David's Hall, the main door of which is in Working Street. See map (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). Assuming you can find the castle (it's that big thing with crenellations at the top!), cross Duke Street into High Street and follow it down until it becomes St Mary's Street. Turn left down Wharton Street and the Hall is right in front of you. Scroll down the map to see Cardiff Central Station. You could walk between all three in a few minutes. Incidentally, apart from the Royal Albert Hall which is in a class of its own, St David's Hall is probably my favourite venue anywhere. What ya wanna stay in Coldstream Terrace for? You're on the wrong side of the Taff! See ya there (assuming you don't get lost!), Roger

Silly me! I had to look that up! Up here in the simple north, we call them castelations 'cos it rhymes with castle. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifSo I suppose, down south you have crenels, not castles Best wishes Grant By the way, whichever side of the Taff you're on, he'll be speaking a language you can't understand, so I can't see that it matters very much.

Hi Mark, Grant and Peter, I am due to arrive in Cardiff at around 3.30pm. I will check in at my hotel, grab a cuppa, and make my way towards the venue at around 5 o'clock. If anyone knows of a nearby eating establishment, count me in! If not, I'll bring sandwiches! Come to think of it, I believe there is somewhere in St David's Hall. Roger

If anyone knows of a nearby eating establishment, count me in! If not, I'll bring sandwiches! Last time I was in Cardiff, I ate at a Weatherspoon's near the railway station but I'm sure there will be something in town if the venue doesn't have what we want. According to the venue's web site, the cafe closes at 3.00pm and the restaurant doen't open until 5.30pm, so we may need to find an alternative anyway. Hopefully I will have passed on the tube of posters by 5.00pm and will be free to join you all i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant
