Well said Jon ! As for Faryl getting knocked out Steve, well we'll see won't we ?! The Asian viewers and dog lovers clearly made an impact on last night's voting for the first 2 finalists but I'd like to think Classical fans are waiting for later in the week, not only for Faryl but Andrew Johnston the bullied choirboy as well.

Update to BGT:
A good night for the child stars last night as the adults were eliminated from the 2nd semi-final ! Andrew Johnston was voted through to the final with "Tears in Heaven." Piers Morgan said he was the new favourite for the competition. Time will tell but there's a young girl in Kettering, Northants who I believe will prove him wrong. One thing's for sure, my phone bill will go up this week !!

From the sneak trailer they showed last night, its possible that Faryl is singing 'In The Arms of an Angel", tonight. We here in Kettering wish her well. If she doesn't win due to a possible backlash against singers winning, it will be a shame.

Hi Ivy,
Clearly the support for Faryl is not limited to the good people of Kettering. Yes folks, Faryl won tonight's semi-final and indicated that she will sing 'Amazing Grace' in the final on Saturday. I certainly wish her well... and I've never even been to Kettering!

For me it has always been local. And I would like to see Farryl win this. She was head and shoulders above the rest in this semi-final in my opinion. And I think one of the judges at least, said so. Yes Faryl stormed to victory in last night's 4th semi-final, "a league ahead of the others" as Simon Cowell said and must now be a hot favourite to win Saturday's final and the small matter of £100,000. She'll be joining the other finalists on a 15 date tour next month and I've just got back from the International Centre where I've booked my seat. (Not many left!). Have you got your ticket for Brighton yet, Roger ? For those of you in the south-east she's also appearing at London's Hammersmith Apollo and as far north as Edinburgh for our Scottish enthusiasts. Full details of the tour at itv.com/talent. You can catch the final (which also includes 13 year old choirboy Andrew Johnston) on ITV1 at 6.50pm, repeated Sunday 2.05pm in case you didn't have your recorder ready first time round !!

This post has been moved from the thread about Hayley's Christmas concert in Edinburgh. Faryl Smith too ? Now that IS a bonus ! Shame it's the other end of the country from me ! Hi Jeff. My view entirely. I've just done a Google on Faryl and she has much more prominence there than she did. I listened again to her contribution in 'Britain's Got Talent'. This is going to be a voice to watch. I think 'timbre' is the best word to use here. It has the same rounded quality as Hayley and Dame Malvina, like the clarinet as opposed to the oboe which is how I would place Kiri te Kanawa's sound.

I wonder if Faryl will be appearing with Hayley in London as well ? Perhaps our friends going to Edinburgh on 13 Dec would be good enough to ask her if they get a chance ?

Hello Jeff! It seems that moving Peter's post didn't stop the confusion. As far as I can make out, Faryl Smith will be appearing with Katherine Jenkins in Birmingham on 12th December, but please don't blame me if I'm wrong. Guess what! Sue and I will be at Katherine's concert too! Shall we set up a HWI meet at a KJ concert? Would that be a first? I gather we shall see Farryl Smith perform too!

I've sounded off on this before and now I can't resist the urge to do it again: Faryl Smith is definitely NOT another Hayley, and the same could be said that Hayley is not another Sarah Brightman. It does Faryl a disservice in the long run to have comparisons built into her image. Let her be who she is, just like we allowed Hayley to get out from Sarah and Charlotte's media-suggested shadows.

I agree, Steve. I have changed the thread title so that all further posts from now on will merely be called "Re: Faryl Smith".

HaHa Roger! I logged on to post in agreement with Steve's comment above and in the meantime 'someone' changed the title of the thread! However, I still agree with Steve and would go as far as to say that there will never be another Hayley! Best wishes Grant

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's tired of all these comparisons. Unfortunately we'll never stop the press from doing it. Richard
