I don't know why it took me this long, but it only just occurred to me that I omitted her from my website! Quickly remedied, of course! Faryl SmithI didn't really follow Faryl at first, but I think her tracklistings are actually very good, and as Elliot said, the 'thinking out of the box' really raises respect points - though she comes up with none of it. Still, that gives me hope for UCJ realising that CC music is more than just covering 'Ave Maria' and 'Time To Say Goodbye'. I am still bursting for the new album. It's probably my most anticipated album of the season. <3

"Hayley Westenra fans are highly likely to hold Smith in very high esteem" - I suspect you may be right, Nicola! Nice write up. I was looking through your site the other day and was quite surprised she wasn't there, honestly. Still, she's there, now You are a little unclear on her version of The Blue Danube, BTW. The words to River Of Light were written for her and are not the traditional version. I'm sure you know that, but it's not clear in the write up

I say that it's a "vocal version", i.e. that they are normally instrumental, but she has made them into songs. Though there is a vocal version of 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence' already, but that is more readily known as "Forbidden Colours" and is different to the one that Faryl performs - again, given unique lyrics. I'll just add a little something in to make that more clear. Thanks.

Yeah. No lyrics originally written to accompany The Blue Danube, after all. All versions were added later. Glad I could help EDIT: new version reads well, IMO

I think she deserved it. It's been her year, Classically.

Hi Jillian This is breaking news for us here on HWI since we were only aware that Hayley was appearing at Twickers on 5th Dec when NZ are due to play the Barbarians. I did wonder why Hayley was not going to appear also at the Eng v NZ match but now I know! Unfortunately, this match is not on UK terrestrial tv (SKY only) so we need someone to record it for the masses! Martin

Hayley and Faryl are to sing together at "Twickers" to entertain the crowd with "Jerusalem". They will then each sing their respective national anthems. When Faryl performed at Twickenham last time when England met the French, we all know what happened to the French. So you Kiwis. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Hayley & Faryl together? Awesome! A must see, that, IMO! Faryl won't match Hayley, of course, but she'll likely get closer than most.

Paddy England are pretty darn good at Rugby, it's just that NZ is better. Hmmm... What a spooky parallel!

Unfortunately the match is only live on Sky and BBC highlights next day don't always show anthems. However, Faryl will be on Paul O'Grady on Channel 4 at 5pm on Thursday 26th November.
