Thanks Peter and Dazza for your reviews - can I invite you to post them on Jonathan's forum so he has the pleasure of reading them too?
Something I would like to add about the sans mic performance - Jonathan trained at the Guildhall where they learnt to sing without any amplification and actually had to unlearn it when he started to appear on TV. However I was just so happy he did do it in Stoke as I had commented on, asked his management and hoped he would do it when he performed in Chichester Cathedral which sadly he did not but hey at least I was there this time - for possibly the most difficult tenor aria!
G4 did the most fabulous Cathedral tour where they did not use mics but they did say it was truly exhausting. Basically doing a full concert on consecutive nights rather than a few arias during productions spread over a couple a week as you get in an opera. Hayley is not classically trained and it may take a lot of work to get her there but I hope she can do this but I do know that at the moment Jonathan has to 'turn himself down' a bit otherwise he can outsing her.
Whether we get a repeat of Jonathan and Hayley may actually be up to you guys as much as anything else as I know Jonathan is well up for it I personally think that together they could be something very, very special as there is a gap in the market for this kind of thing. I've been lucky enough to see all their performances together live apart from the Festival of Remembrance and it truly is something special and is building but Hayley seems to have gone off with other singing partners and although I may be very biased I don't think they have proved as spectacular or popular?
As far as choosing who else should be with them, Andy is a no brainer, Al is just amazing - you may not realise it but he really did fill in without any notice because there was a problem with the sound of one of the girls instrument's mic. I also understand that the Pavao Quartet are the better accompanists - all these are amazing musicians who will go with the singer and help them perfect their performances.
Lastly let me explain my lampshade comment - it just describes these types of dresses as they are ruched up like an old fashioned lampshade
Look forward to seeing some of you again at another concert
