Oh, Richard, when I saw you were the last one to post, I was hoping you were going to say you finally went and saw it... did you? Of course, that's very good news about the soundtrack.

Hello Libby! I've been put off by the length of the film. It's even longer than a Daniel O'Donnell concert (that's another story), so I'll wait for the DVD instead. Richard

Okay, understandable. It's definitely easier when you have the freedom of pausing it, or splitting up the viewing time. The last time I watched the LOTR movies, I watched them all a little bit at a time after I got home from work. It took quite some time, but it was nice to spread it out. I think the DVD might come out in March.

I like both, but the Bilbo one is fine with me! I actually bought the book from Target with that picture on the front. Of course, I already have a copy, a green one with some artwork on it, but I just wanted it as a special collector's item, I guess. Although I'm still slowly working my way through the story (almost done!), I haven't used the new one. My other poor book has gotten slightly mangled since I started reading it again, so I don't dare take the new one with me to work! Stuffing it in my bag with the cover ending up all folded, pulling it out of my folded up bag from inside my tiny locker, dropping it on the floor, etc. LOL

The Hobbit was nominated for 3 categories at the Oscars': Production Design, Hairstyling & Makeup, and Visual Effects. Of course the Hobbit didn't win any of them! But then, an academy that would choose a silly cartoon song over the beautiful May it Be can not be taken very seriously. LOL The winners were Lincoln, Les Miserables, and Life of Pi, respectively. I still can't imagine why The Hobbit couldn't have at least been nominated for adapted screenplay or the music categories! In slightly better news, the movie is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray March 19th. I say slightly because the extended edition will not be available till fall!! Oh well, thankfully I can go see it at the cheap ticket theater soon, and probably come on HBO. As much as I love these movies, I refuse to buy more than one copy of the movie. Also, I think the first look at the Desolation of Smaug is coming in March, too!

The entire Academy cries when they feel they have to nominate a fantasy film for anything, I am sure! Actually allowing one to win is a horror scarce to be contemplated!

Latest news: The movie is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray on March 19th. It will have special features, which I think is all the footage from the video blogs that they did throughout the filming. However, the extended edition version is not expected to come out till fall! So, I will save my money and wait for that one. In the meantime, the local cheap ticket theater should get it pretty soon, and then HBO should get it at some point too. Also, the last movie will now be released on Dec. 17, 2014 instead of July 18th, as they originally said. I'm a little disappointed that it'll no longer be 2 days after my sister's birthday, because then she could've called it her "birrthday pressent". But, this way, the anticipation of the movies will last a little longer. Also, it seems like they'd have a better chance of being nominated at the Oscar's if it's released in fall. In the announcement article, they said they wanted to continue with the big holiday box office turn out, and another source says they probably don't want to compete with the X-Men movie that's supposed to be out at the same time.

The first (yes, first!) trailer for the Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug came out last week! I'm a little late to post it here, but better late than never! Of course I watched it the first opportunity I could when I got home last Tuesday! www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10102354395589186

Hi Libby and all,
It looks as though the sound track for the second Hobbit movie will be recorded in New Zealand whilst Hayley is in England for the Classic FM Live show.

Hi Libby and all, It looks as though the sound track for the second Hobbit movie will be recorded in New Zealand whilst Hayley is in England for the Classic FM Live show. Hi, Is it not possible that if a vocal is called for, that could be overlaid later? Without a definite word to the contrary, I am still hoping, but with hope not very high. BobS

The soundtrack is being recorded in Wellington now! www.theonering.net/torwp/2013/09/04/78402-wellington-town-hall-off-limits-as-nzso-records-for-the-hobbit/The article says that access to the building would be restricted till the end of next month! So, even though Hayley's probably in London now (did that Classic FM show ever happen? She hasn't made a peep for over a week), there would seem to be plenty of time between now and the end of the month. Also, if she could record for Hushabye in Singapore, it wouldn't be absolutely necessary for her to be present in Wellington. Enya probably recorded May it Be in Ireland. Of course, this is all mostly wishful-thinking on my part. I must prepare myself to be disappointed again this year, and hope for the best next year. In other news, I've just pre-ordered the extended edition of The Hobbit Unexpected Journey, which contains 5 discs!! The more the merrier, I say! And I ordered it from BN.

It's not Hayley this time, either. I can't listen to it yet, though, since I don't do Itunes. I won't like it until I recover from this second blow. LOL itunes.apple.com/us/album/i-see-fire/id735323287?i=735323715&uo=4&at=10l4RXI'm starting to get discouraged. Who am I kidding? I might as well forget it, Peter Jackson probably doesn't like her well enough, or something. Though my response to my first letter was positive. Or maybe some silly, obsessed Hayley fan wasn't enough to persuade him (or them). But there's still one movie left... and maybe other soundtrack vocals??
