Oh, those Hobbit comedy endings are great! Thanks, Libby Yes! I'm glad they did that too, to show people that this story has a little more fun in it than the LOTR. Not that the LOTR didn't have any, but you know. It's more sporadic in the LOTR, mostly just Pippin. Oh, and the "What's taters?" part. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

The Hobbit is more fun and adventure mostly, so it's good they're taking a lighter tone, I think. Doom and gloom wouldn't work for a lot of it. Still wish they'd put more of the songs in LotR, mind. Some of those are amazing. But I guess they didn't have room for everything. Unfortunately!

Thanks Libby. I appreciate the update. ( keeping fingers crossed ) I was just thinking...I don't know if it's been suggested before or not, but it might not be a bad idea to introduce Pixar/Disney to Hayley's music. I could see her singing for a Disney pic. Lisa K. , Meav and Mairead added their talents to a Tinkerbell movie a while back now. Your thoughts...?

Well, she's already done Mulan II! Here Beside Me. Wasn't in theaters, though. It might get more attention, though, if the TV show Once Upon a Time adds Mulan to the character list. That seems weird to me, but if it would get people to watch the movies again, and here Hayley's voice... but I bet the chances of that are extremely slim.

So, I'm not really surprised, but... It's not to be this time! www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/10/08/62953-neil-finn-of-crowded-house-provides-the-end-title-song-for-an-unexpected-journey/Well, he's from New Zealand. There's that, at least. However, the way they put it, I can't tell if it's a new song, or an existing song. Because they say "a song by..." not "he's singing the ending song". I'm disappointed of course, but as I said, I'm not really surprised. I've just had this feeling that it wasn't going to happen this time. It's almost like because I've been hoping for it for so long, it's almost like it would be too good to be true, and that maybe it will always just be a fantasy that will never happen. Or the fact that I've told you all about it, gotten you all hoping for it too, like I've jinxed it somehow. Not that I really believe in jinxing, but you know. I almost think it's for the best it's not happening yet. She's probably somewhat pre-occupied with planning for certain exciting events, not to mention her usual career commitments. I had also been wondering about them using a male singer, since the story is more of a male story, and the fact they haven't used one yet. Now, you don't think they'd have guys sing for all the movies, do you? They did all ladies last time, now all guys? Noooooo.... I do find it encouraging that they chose someone from New Zealand! (A lot of the actors are Kiwi, too.) But then would that mean they wouldn't go for another NZ artist the next times, just to be fair? Well, just because she's not singing the ending song doesn't mean she couldn't do background vocals. But, that's unlikely this year, because I bet background vocalists record with the orchestra, and the orchestra already did their recording. Of course, background vocalists might not get as much attention as the theme song singers. Aside from Renee Fleming, the other vocalists in the LOTR were virtually unknown. One lady was from New Zealand! Also, don't forget, Hayley is set to sing for that movie The Stolen, coming out next year. Unfortunately it's only supposed to come out in NZ and the UK. So, this isn't really the same thing, probably not much better than Flood. At least there's a recognizable actress in it (the girl from Nativity Story). I can only comfort myself with the fact that there are 2 more chances left! Otherwise, what story or movie would ever be big and exciting like this that would boost her career around the world, (if only a little bit)?

The best thing about film soundtrack people - they aren't looking to be 'fair', only to turn out the best soundtrack they can.
If they think Hayley fits, she'll be in.

I guess so. I just hope she does fit! I read some people's comments below the announcement on Facebook, and someone said they'd thought they'd seen that Loreena McKennitt was going to be the singer. I don't know where they saw that, or how accurate the source was, but I could see her as part of the Hobbit soundtrack. Her style seems like it would fit well with the atmosphere of Middle Earth. I'm sure there must be some other vocalists in the first movie than just one. But if there are, there's no guarantee they'll be anyone well-known. Some of them for the LOTR were just choir vocalists, including one lady from New Zealand, who sang the beautiful, haunting vocal after Gandalf falls in Moria.

Hi all "Hobbit" fans
The December edition of the movie magazine "EMPIRE" has 63 pages of material relating to the triolgy of films "The Hobbit". I also got a 3D limited edition cover photo of Bilbo!
Cheers

There are 5 different covers of it, actually! Which one did you get? There's Gandalf, Gollum, Thorin, Bilbo... oh, and Galadriel! I'm disappointed that the 48 frames per second format is only for the 3D version. I don't watch movies in 3D; actually, I never have, and I don't want my first time to be the first time I see The Hobbit. I want to see it with no distractions! Trying 3D out for the first time would be a major distraction for me, I'm sure. The reason I want to see it in the new frames per second format is that it's supposed to make the picture clearer. It's supposed to cut down the blur you often see in movies, in movement and panoramic views, especially. During the last movie I saw in the theater, I was really noticing this blur, and wishing I could have the 48 fps then. But I won't be able to have it for The Hobbit, either. They're using a different name for it, though, since James Cameron is going to try it in 64 sometime too!

I probably would have chosen the Bilbo one, too. Gollum is a little scary, haha.

Bilbo is the main character. I'd have gotten him, too, if I'd got the mag I'm not sure he isn't my favourite Tolkien character, too, thinking about it. Odd as it sounds, I just think he's more human than the rest, somehow. More fallible.

Yes, I think Bilbo is the best, from the book and the new movie (from what little I've seen of it). Gollum has always been a favorite of mine, though. He's one of those characters you love to hate. LOL I sometimes like the bad guys/villains in stories, for some reason. Gollum in LOTR, Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold in Once Upon a Time, Sylar in Heroes, Ben in Lost... you get the picture. Hey, here's the theme song by Neil Finn. oak.ctx.ly/r/17v4I'm quite shocked that they're posting full length music from the soundtrack a month ahead of time. They even had a link where you could listen to the entire soundtrack! I started to listen to it, but the only way you can hear the whole thing is if you sit there and listen to it all the way through. If you pause it, it will start all over again when you hit play again! Also, without seeing what's going on, it's hard to really "get it". It sounds great, of course, but you can't connect it with any particular scene, so it all starts to sound the same.

I don't think I want to hear any of it. We have a church excursion planned to see the film. I will wait until then.
