I recognize so many in your pictures, Punakaiki Rocks,Franz Josef and Fox glacier,HukaFalls and Roturoa. Next to come are from Lake Taupo????I guess??? I'm looking forward to your wonderfull pictures, Greetz JOYCE. Sorry, Joyce, there's no Lake Taupo on my pictures. We just touched Lake Taupo on our way from Rotorua to Napier. But even if 4 weeks sound very long you can't see everything in that time. There's just so much to see. After Napier our journey led us to Wellington. Here's the St. James Theatre where Hayley's Live DVD was recorded.A look upon Mt. Victoria. On that mountain also a part of Lord of the Rings 1 was filmed where the Hobbits hid under a big root of a tree to hide from a Nazgul.A few canoes practising. One canoe sunk a few minutes before while practising and the crew was brought back to the habour by boat. The airport. You better touch the runway to avoid wet feet. The view of Wellington habour from Mt. Victoria.Wellington isn't just a big city. There's a beautiful rural part on Miramar peninsula. Very worth visiting but you need a car otherwise the distances are too big.To be continued ... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThomas

Hi Thomas You had a great time here in NZ.I am pleased you got to visit Rotorua it's an interesting place despite the local smell of sulphur. It has been like that I guess since time began Nice photo's of Wellington too, pleased you went up the cable car,and yes,it's a MUST DO when visiting Wellington. A nice photo of the interislander (ferry) this is a trip you want to earmark next time you visit our shores. The trip takes three and a half hours, but it is well worth it especially when you arrive in the Marlborough Sounds. Thats traveling Wellington to Picton,it is more spectacular that way a photographer's paradise believe it. Grant,if your reading this you made mention on another thread about holiday vacations, that you only like to be away two or three days If you are thinking of coming to NZ,as Thomas has pointed out. You need at least a minimum of five to six weeks to see and enjoy the sites to visit here in NZ. There is a lot to see and do here in NZ even I haven't seen everything there is to see and I have been here for 48 years Look forward to meeting you all here in NZ sometime soon,in the meantime, take care, cheers, Rodders CH CH NZ

Rodders, yes, the interislander trip will be a trip to remember but so we have something left for the next time. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAfter we left Wellington we headed north along the west coast to Mt. Taranaki the only vulcano on our tour. We planned two days for this area because you never know how the weather would be. When we arrived in the afternoon we saw Mt. Taranaki already completely with only a few clouds. Mt. Taranaki Cape Egmont Lighthouse Lighthouse with Mt. Taranaki To be continued ... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThomas

Thank you, Stephany! To know the country perfectly I think I need a few more visits ... Well, I'm working on it. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAfter we'd visited the Mt. Taranaki area and the nice little town Plymouth (good Italian restaurant called "Portofino"...yum i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif ) we continued driving north. Our last stop before reaching Auckland was Waitomo Caves. Waitomo Caves is famous for their ... guess what ... yes, their caves! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThey have several there and we visited the Glow Worm Cave. When entering the cave we first got an introdution of how the caves were discovered, about the development of dripstones and about glow worms. After that we did a boat tour on a lake inside the cave to see the glow worms or their light to say it more precisely. During the boat trip inside the cave it was completely dark and everybody was silent. Only the gurgle of the water could be heard and the shimmering green light of the glow worms could be seen. I waited for someone shouting "Gollum, Gollum". It wasn't possilbe to photograph the glow worms so I don't have pictures of the cave. But here are some of the next day on our way from Waitomo to Auckland. During the night it started to rain and hardly stopped the next day. So we had to wait for a little sunshine for these pictures of the Marokopa Falls. But thanks to the rain there was more water falling down the Marokopa Falls than in the picture of the Falls in our tour guide book. Nice scenery on the walk from the car park to the Falls! Hi Thomas, When I see your photographs from New Zealand, I'm like => The sceneries are absolutely gorgeous. It's hard to believe that they are all in the same country. Wow! Thank you again for sharing all your wonderful pictures. I really, really need to go there one day. Love, Stephany

Well Stephany, You now have a reason...& you too (again) Thomas. Kerikeri etc. etc. (hope the etc. etc. comes to pass) While I was planning how to sightsee North & South Islands (Feb 2008) I tried to stay in places where I could radiate out & visit venues on either coast. I've taken quite a bit of notice of your pics Thomas, & also Google Earth. So up to date I have cars & planes & hotels booked plus a couple of concert tickets. Graeme

Stephany, thank you for your kind words. They are very appreciated. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifGraeme, it's so nice that Marianne and you are able to go to NZ to see Hayley and do some sightseeing. How can a NZ holiday be nicer than with a few Hayley concerts? I hope you enjoy the trip and that the concert dates are confirmed soon. I really like to go to NZ again as well but I think I have to wait a little bit until it's possible again. Best wishes, Thomas

At the end of our North Island tour we arrived in Auckland again! We returned our car and spend one last night in NZ before it was time to say good-bye. On our departure day we had a few hours time before we headed to the airport so we did a boat trip across the harbour to Devonport. If you want to escape the hectic of a big city Devonport is a good choice. It's a nice and quiet suburb with little shops and cafés. The look across the harbour to Auckland Devonport There are two "All Blacks" banners on top of the white building. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIn the afternoon we left NZ. But we headed to Sydney for two days before we went back to Germany. Sydney is also a nice place and worth to visit. To be continued ... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif It's not over yet.
